It might not be in the town centre, but it's absolutely in the heart of the community. Always a relaxed and friendly place with a similar atmosphere, probably the most relaxing, sociable, and amiable pub in Pickering. A varied "calendar" of events/quizzes/live music/karaoke added to a superb range of drinks choices, regular C.A.M.R.A. Award winners, a huge garden for enjoying those days and evenings outside....when the great British weather permits!! I've been a patron for decades, since last century, and it's always a pleasure to visit. Their monthly events calendar is usually suspended in the month of August in order to welcome folks/tourists visiting -- often revisiting-- for the summer holidays/tourist season, and to give the usual performers and participants a break, too. This is the first time l have been to the Sun. Definitely go again. We went with 5 adults and three children various ages and one dog. We sat outside in the large garden with lots of seating. Although they don't serve food the kids were happy with crisps and snacks. Drinks were good and my son in law said the beer 🍺 was always good. Best beer pub in Pickering? The Sun consistently have 6 real ales available, all are immaculately kept and exceedingly fresh. Favourites include Tetleys traditional Cask ale and Yorkshire Legend - brewed 14 miles away in Helmsley. Sharon and Rob deliver a very welcoming atmosphere, the music is lively but never too loud that you can't hold a conversation. Let's not forget the Sun's summer beer and cider festival. This is a cracking event and should be on every beer lovers...
