Firstly, I love the name!!!!
Secondly, I saw a few mixed reviews of this place, but we decided to go anyway and see for ourselves. Absolute winner!!!
It's a small village cafe, reasonably priced, decent portions, quick service, and tasty food.
We went for breakfast before a hefty drive up to Scotland, so pleased we did. I got the full monte breakfast and it was exactly what I needed!!! Bacon, Lorne, haggis, black pudding, scrambled egg, beans, a hash brown and a Scottish potato scone (I'm not really a fan of those... sorry) everything was spot on and very tasty.
The fella got a sausage and black pudding sandwich loch he said was amazing, he also got a strawberry tart (yes for breakfast, but when ya on your jollies there's no rules ha) he was over the moon with that tart and wanted another one straight after, we left before all the cakes came with us ha.
A lady next to us had a cheese scone which was warm (yum yum, beat way to have them) and it was huge and looked packed full of cheese.
All the staff were really canny and attentive.
Highly recommend if you are in Berwick for a wonder or passing through and...
Read moreOn a rainy, cold day in Berwick, Thistle Do Nicely was a ray of sunshine. The toasty warm cafe offered a very warm welcome, with efficient, friendly staff keen to serve. The cafe was quite full, yet the staff quickly went about their tasks. In no time at all, drinks were served and meals ordered. The tables were spotlessly clean. There is a varied menu with plenty of tempting choices. I had an old favourite of mine, baked potato with chilli con carne. This was served up piping hot with a tasty side salad. My good lady wife, had Coronation Chicken, again with a tasty side salad. We both agreed for a lunchtime snack they were perfect. The cost of the whole meal was cheaper than what we had received in other establishments. Well done T.D.N. You...
Read moreWe had a lovely early lunch here today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the bacon and brie panini, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality - the bacon was thick cut and therefore properly delicious, instead of the floppy, thin streaky bacon that seems to be gaining popularity in cafés. My latte was also fantastic, as was my stepdaughter's macaroni cheese. We would absolutely eat here again if in the area! Sometimes you can't beat old fashioned, simple food.
The service was also brilliant, super friendly and helpful staff. Food came quickly, and the toilets were clean. No complaints at all, thank you so much for a quick and...
