Terrible... Popped in for spot of lunch with our one year old, customer service was bad from the start the barmaid appeared to have a bad attitude. After ordering a kids chicken nugget chips and beans and literally 5 min wait the chicken came out pink, the chips under cooked and covered in salt bear in mind was for a 18month year old toddler! I expressed my dissatisfaction and said I wanted a refund, however I left with my family without it as they could clearly do with all the money they can get to clèan the place up. Wouldn't give the food to my dog let alone my toddler! If you want a nice meal avoid this place at all costs!!!! As for the response from the owner I'm guessing you've seen the reviews in the past regarding the attitude of the large ginger girl, seems to me you need to retrain your staff in manners as she was the offender yet again! I've been raised to speak to people how they speak to you, so after the food came out raw which is not below standard its simply unacceptable especially off the children's menu! Of course i changed my attitude to match your staffs, which is why i left so fast as I didnt want to cause a scene as looked like the place was struggling enough..Seems to me you need a new cook and barmaid as both were terrible..and individual menus for the tables would be nice I've never had to walk up to the bar in any place to view the menu? I mean wow!!!! Perhaps it's the owner that's the problem? Bad management equals...
Read moreNipped into brewers arms unannounced on a busy Sunday lunchtime whilst waiting on my bus to coldingham.
No seats were available as the place was fully booked. However, using my charm and being on my own they managed to accommodate me.
The ambiance was first class. AC/DC playing as background music. Football on a TV under where I was sitting. I was sat in the bar area right at the door facing everyone. (When you on your own this is ideal. No one to talk to but perfect to soak up an atmosphere for an review)
The menu is A classic British pub fare. I was informed that there is a house special consisting of a Sunday roast, served with all the trimmings for £8.95 however, since I am dining later with family later, I opted for the soup of the day. I had a choice! Yes a choice, consisting of lentil or leek.
I chose the lentil. This came with a warm petit pan and softened butter.
I also chose the breaded mushrooms accompanied by a salad.
Both were hot, tasty and recommended
Service was speedy, staff attentive and pleasant. It's an independent pub and a welcomed credit to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Total for food £8 Pint £3.50
Highly recommend if looking for a pub to enjoy the afternoon with...
Read moreMe, the other half and our two toddler daughter's decided to come here for some dinner yesterday during our day out to Berwick.
The food was amazing. I had steak pie with veg & chips, other half had chicken & leek pie with mashed tatties & veg. We both had puddings: chocolate sponge with custard and rhubarb crumble with custard. It was £7.95 for our 2-course special and absolutely worth it! Nothing was under or overcooked, no soggy cabbage :-) Cooked to perfection! Our daughter's meals were both well-priced and the burger was pretty big too. For £4.95 or £3 something they got a meal, drink (slush puppy or fruit shoot) & ice-cream in this fancy animal holder. Definately worth the money again.
The staff who dealt with us were lovely and a blonde lady in particular was wonderful with our two girls.
If we ever came to Berwick again, we'll definately be eating here again! You could tell the food was home cooked. Thankyou kitchen staff for...
