Taste of Northumbria — Restaurant in England

Worst cooked breakfast I've had in a long time. I hate writing bad reviews but it had to be done. Our usual local was closed for the day so took a chance on a breakfast here, we live locally so should've known better. We visited on a Saturday late morning, the place had a few tables filled. Noticing the atmosphere as we took our seats, we were only served by staff 15 minutes after seating (perhaps two people running the show at this point so understandable). When approached we ordered two 10 item breakfasts, no Hash browns available therefore we substituted for beans and black pudding. I feel a charge of £1.79 for two slices of toast with a breakfast is strange, usually would come included. However we ordered, in the meantime a table had left before getting their food as they had waited 40 minutes for their breakfast. Another table of 2 came in after we ordered, and somehow managed to get their food before us? We were agitated by this point, having only just received our drinks and then waited longer than half an hour for food. Around 40 mins we got our breakfasts, and I must say it wasn't worth the wait. The sausages were the worst sausages I've ever eaten (please invest in decent local produce when you're called 'Taste of Northumbria'; there's a local Butcher literally 30 seconds from the cafe). There were 3 whole mushrooms that must've been around for a few days as they were full of oil and didn't taste remotely like a mushroom. Black pudding wasn't cooked, likewise with the bacon. The eggs were the nicest part, but if you can't cook eggs in a cafe, there's something seriously wrong. I really wouldn't have minded the wait had it been decent produce and cooked well. Also, I understand establishments being short staffed, but I found the whole thing visit incredibly underwhelming. Please change your name from Taste of Northumbria as this is so far removed...

Don't bother eating here we were a party of 3 adults and 2 children, ordered drinks first I asked for hot chocolate with cream..should've known when I had to send it back for the cream it would continue to be shocking service let alone food...My mum asked for sugar for her coffee which she never got...we ordered 2 Jacket potato meals with cheese and beans.. 1 spud came out 20 mins before the other spud meal.1, 6 item breakfast ,crab sandwich meal,this came out with the first spud meal, my ham egg and chips came out 15 mins after the first 2 meals, the other jacket spud came out 20 mins later, beans were cold on the first red hot on the other spud meal, my nephew had to wait another 15 mins for his 6 item breakfast, minus toast...the fried egg was raw with white slime all around the yolk, so that was uneaten.......service was slower than slow, no apologies for meals not coming out together, no money knocked off, a party of 6 came and sat at a table next to us, but got up and left after they heard me tell my nephew not to eat his raw egg..and they could see we'd all finished our meals even though the breakfast had just been brought to the table....DO NOT EAT HERE ALSO ASKED FOR SUGAR FOR MUM'S COFFEE,NEVER CAME GOOD JOB REALLY AS THERE WASN'T A...

It is a nice cafe and both workers were very pleasant. My girlfriend, myself and my dad came in for some lunch today. We were greeted, given menus and after a short time we had ordered food. There is a note on the menu mentioning that there may be a short wait during busier times due to all food being prepared fresh which is not only a nice touch as it lets you know what you’re eating, it also warns you that if you’re on a short amount of time and it’s busier, it might be better going elsewhere. In saying this, however, I recon we were given our food within approximately 10 minutes which considering every table was full, we were very happy with. Everything was tasty and very hot which was great. My only complaint would be that it was a little pricey for some menu items. The place could also do with some background music of some kind as it was a little too quiet at times. I have seen some comments about cash only, this is not or is no longer true, as we paid card. Just incase some people are being put off by this. There were dogs in while we were in too so I believe the venue is...
