Truro Lounge is, for me, a perfect place to get a quick bite for brunch. Be it before a meeting or just after being out in Truro for a pleasant walk; this restaurant can accommodate you well.
The restaurant itself has two levels, the ground floor being situated next to the bar and kitchen and the upper floor being split into an indoor and outdoor terrace section. I find sitting outside was slightly uncomfortable. The chairs are rather firm and it's more than often that a wasp or two may attempt to greet you .Albeit, it is important to notice that there are generally not many interesting views at this restaurant as it is in the city centre. Regardless, The place is mostly clean but could do better with the windowsills being a touch dusty. The restaurant is styled in a very 'indie-retro' style whilst still holding a professional feel. This style compliments the restaurant well.
It is important to note that there is no table-side ordering available at this restaurant. All orders are taken at the bar. The speed of service was typically quite fast compared to other places in the same region with very friendly and welcoming service staff.
In terms of food, I would highly recommend the breakfast or lunch menus as these were, in particular, the highlights of my visit. Although the food was excellently cooked and had an excellent complimentary selection of flavour; I find that the portions were rather small and left me feeling not entirely full considering that I also had a side of sweet potato fries. On this particular visit, I had the 'Lounge Eggs with Guacamole and Chorizo'. I find pricing was reasonable but could be better varying on the menu items. This establishment also offers salads, burgers, paninis, tapas and mains ranging from fishcake to chilli. I recommend giving something you've never tried before a go!
The drinks served were generally excellent, especially those that were handmade. For me, my iced vanilla latte was one of the best I believe I have had. The pricing of the drinks menu, for me, was also excellent.
This place is usually quite busy so, as always, booking in advance is recommended but if you are lucky, a walk-in may be available.

Read moreTimes have changed. Upon entering you’re no longer greeted by a happy face, merely a sign propped up on an easel telling you to find your own table. You find your seat, menus already on the table where you’re encouraged to order on the app, the WiFi is terrible and there’s little signal to be found inside so I ended up just ordering at the bar. The lady serving me was lovely it must be mentioned, it was not a burden to take my order and she was happy to do so with a smile, and answered my questions well. (For management she was dark haired with a shaved side, on Monday morning at approximately 10.30, an excellent front of house waitress.) I sat back down and drinks arrived promptly, and then we waited approximately 45mins for our food. The place wasn’t busy, a quarter full at a guess, we couldn’t understand why we were waiting so long. By the time our food had arrived we’d finished our drinks long ago. No warning for the wait was given, and other tables were waiting just as long. We only ordered off the menu, no special requests. The waitress that served us our drinks and food was not quite so happy to be there. Slamming drinks and then the food down with force which was noticeable. When the food did arrive it wasn’t great, it was presented nicely but sadly that was as good as it got, my partners poached eggs tasted strongly of vinegar. My hash browns were over cooked as was the egg. Toast soggy and cold. Sausages were tasty however. Finally we used the toilet facilities before leaving and they were fairly grotty for 11.30 in the morning, the check sheet showed it had been checked but certainly nothing had been done about it. The mirrors were covered in sink splash back and the urinals smelt. I did check to ensure the marks on the mirror wasn’t ‘patina’ such is the decor, and it was not. Overall the only shining light was the waitress who took my order at the bar, I fear this would have been a 1 star if she wasn’t there. We won’t be returning in a...
Read moreStaff were holding some food changing/ tasting event down stairs around customers, it was horribly loud, staff shouting and laughing so loud we couldn’t even talk. Very unprofessional, I understand they need to talk to staff and introduce new food etc, but do it out of hours OR close the top floor and do it out the way of paying customers. (We saw when we were About to leave that the whole top floor was available for them to use or send customers up there?!) I’ve literally been listening to it because it’s hard not to hear, saying how things aren’t good value for money at the moment, what customers don’t like, what they are changing to make nicer because they aren’t good atm. All whilst we are eating……We felt stupid just sitting there. Even my young son kept saying why are they shouting so loud over and over again. “Right then guys next dish is a blah blah blah.. are you listening” just terrible atmosphere, ruined our meal. The food wasn’t good either it was cooked within an inch of its life, added a photo, there was no pak Choi and the vegetables had zero colour except for the broccoli which was green, it just made it more obvious how overcooked it was. Son got a rash on his face after eating a plant based burger with there ketchup, they tried to say it was allergies but he has none, we have a restaurant near us that’s the same chain as the Truro lounge in leicester that’s 10x better, same menu etc no reactions, very bizarre. We received...
