Went came here because it's highly acclaimed on both Reddit and Google. So the standard expected is high. Now I don't want to come across pedantic but I'm lactose intolerant and if I were to get cheese on my burger I wouldn't eat it. The table next to us got their food before us and the burger had cheese on, luckily my girlfriend had asked if there was any cheese on the burger and they said they'd leave it off. You may ask why I'm making a big deal about this but the interaction with the opposite table went like this "Cheese isn't listed on the menu in this burger" "It's chimichuri that has cheese" checkmate thought the customer. I'd already googled chimichuri and its got nothing to do with cheese, it's a marinade/ sauce type thing. So there's a misunderstanding somewhere, regardless I felt bad for the bloke who'd scraped the cheese off because he was too British to complain, although him and his wife were grumbling about it. Food was ok, nothing to get excited about though. If you've made it this far thanks for sticking with me. This is a nice place but the outstanding reviews do give a slightly warped perception for...

It's been a long time since our last visit however called into today, and wish I'd been back sooner, had the pleasure of my first vegetarian kebab, which was a real pleasure!! ... My wife's 'tart of the day' looked lovely too! and tasty, I did have a nibble 🙈... Staff are very attentive, friendly even though we did call late on a Friday afternoon, will ensure I call sooner next time.. Unfortunately the beautiful riverside location has been destroyed with the Environment Agency currently constructing flood defences, which has had an impact cafe, isolating away from many passing trade, and the once riverside views are blotted with industrial works going on... However, this didn't distract me from the cosy inside of the cafe, and fingers crossed for the spring/summer the views return along with some nice weather!! I will be returning again...

A light and welcoming atmosphere, super friendly staff run by lovely mother and son team. Much of the food is home made. It was no problem squeezing in 6 of us by moving tables around, in the side room by the entrance and kids play zone. Order at the till and table service was quick and friendly. Daily specials board. Vegan all day breakfasts were nice, but like the delicious cakes, on the pricey side. Loaded "dirty" fries were very good. Barista-style coffee (oat latte) was okay, just a bit cool for my liking. Plenty of chilled water brought to the table. They even asked permission to turn the music down for us! Tip jar was generously contributed. Dog-friendly, but I found it awkward allowing big dogs to lie between the tables, especially when gaps are already narrow. Despite this, would probably go back...

We booked the restaurant for 35 people and had the Middle Eastern Menu. Such a nice cosy place with amazing hospitable staff. The food was delicious and the desserts were incredible. We had a Palestinian musician who performed for us post dinner which made it a very special evening with the best vibes. Highly recommended this place. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Kendal. Thank you for having our group - Muslim Hikers

A super cozy place with a beautiful view of the river. My husband and I ordered the soup of the day, which was delicious, and a Loaded Hummus with feta cheese that, besides having a gorgeous presentation, was really tasty. The staff was very friendly. They also have a stamp card for coffee lovers so you can get one for free. Without a doubt, we’ll be back on our next visit to Kendal.
