Went to pre school football in the park and afterwards I stopped off in the cafe for a coffee and a snack for my 2 year old son. Bought both the coffee and the snack at the cafe and went and sat at one of the tables on the grass outside the main seating area. I gave my 2 year old a sandwich I had packed which is gluten free as he was a bit hungry after football and my baby a fruit pouch in my lap. A really aggressive man came over and told me really firmly that 'you are not allowed to have any packed lunch at our tables' loudly in front of other customers. Someone next to me actually looked across sympathetically. Bearing in mind I had spent money at the cafe, it was mid week and not yet lunchtime so most tables were empty, I had a small toddler and a tiny baby this felt very unneccessary and embarrassing. I would never bring my own lunch to a cafe but most places are understanding with small kids. I felt this was very rude and unpleasant. Will not return to this cafe. Hove is jam packed with family friendly places, this clearly isn't...
Read moreUnfortunately today I had an unpleasant experience with the service here. It's a shame because I had been many times before and always enjoy it. But today me and my friend where told not to allow our children their packed food, although we did explain that we were buying food from them as well, one of the staff said that's fine as we are ordering food, so we thought it was ok and continued then a man from the kitchen, came out and started to move the table we were sitting at and aggressively said you are not allowed packed food, I was trying to explain that we were ordering food as well and that their other staff member said it was ok. But he was not listening to me and then stormed off into the kitchen area. When our food arrived they had made my friends sandwich wrongly and forget my hot drink. Such a shame, as I did use to go here frequently but will...
Read moreGreat for a break, large selection of menu items to suit most pallets. Ice lollies and sweets sold. Good coffee options with non dairy milks available. We had Almond milk. Doggies on leads welcome and doggy water bowl by the ordering window. Small children welcome, highchairs available and a few toddler toys on the grass by the café. Big flat park ideal for football, cricket, rounders etc. Pleasant and friendly staff. UPDATE: 05.05.2025. Coconut milk is also available. Although still nice, clean, and friendly, I was shocked at the prices today. Ham & cheese toasted sandwich? £10.45. Toasted bagle with Bacon & Avocado? £8. I nearly died of hunger and shock, but once recovered, I took a loan out to pay for lunch, two coffees and a bottle of water. Could do with a bit of music for atmosphere. Will visit again though, in abiut 15 years once we've saved up for...
