Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Exeter

Oh my goodness the hand-spun shakes are AMAZING and worth the £2 upgrade to a meal. If you’re considering it, go for it!

I order from Slim Chickens as much as I can when I visit friends in Exeter (via Deliveroo) because the food is amazing quality and really scrummy!

Unfortunately, the last 5 orders have all been missing at least one item, it has become a running joke with my family and friends.

Because of this, we decided to eat in - and they still forgot a side order of Texas Toast (and there were only two of us).

It’s like an ‘upmarket KFC’ with the food being incredible but, with the additional money spent, you would hope for better service.

The tables weren’t clean, I almost slipped on something that had spilt on the floor, the employees barely spoke at all and seemed frustrated when I queried the missing toast.

If it weren’t for the amazingly tasty chicken, it would definitely be a 1-star review because Exeter Slim Chickens can’t get an order right for love nor money.

I know I’ll order again because the meals are great - but I’ll do so with the full expectation to have to record missing items… again. I also don’t think I’d eat-in again in a hurry… it just felt unclean...

Travelled 30 minutes to go to slim chickens as I’ve heard good things about it. Let me start by saying the food was great and definitely worth the trip. However I ordered 7 chicken tenders and only received 5 and also a dip was missing. This could have been resolved easily so I spoke to the waiter who rudely told me I’d had the food a long time so he will have to speak to the manager. He then came back and told me the manager had spoken to the kitchen who said there was definitely 7 pieces so I was basically accused of lying. Not happy about this, I said I would like to speak to the manager so off the waiter went and he then came back with the 2 pieces of chicken that had been forgotten along with my dip that was also forgotten. This is no way to treat customers as I was made to feel uncomfortable and this ruined my slim chickens experience. Maybe some basic customer service training would help slim chickens as they clearly don’t know how to treat their customers, accusing me of lying about my missing food which was their mistake.

9 months on - promised a phone call to resolve the issues I had but never received the call…. Terrible...

Polite quick service, I advised the staff member that my partner had an egg allergy and he immediately obtained a tablet that listed the ingredients and brought up a list of menu items that did not contain egg. Once the order was placed, the staff member went to the kitchen and highlighted to the staff that the order was for someone with egg allergy and must be prepared and cooked separately. We sat outside and our order was soon delivered to the table. The chicken was hot and perfectly cooked and very tasty as were the chips and garlic bread. Very impressed with staff and food, the only negative were the Seagulls which decended on the adjoining table as soon as the people using it got up and trashed it stealing any food left over, before any staff had a chance to clear it. That was the only negative and detracted from the atmosphere, not the staffs fault but genuinely annoying. Would I eat there again, yes definitely, great staff, great service and great food. Preferred it to KFC, sorry Colonel Sanders but Slim Chickens is a...
