A very disappointing experience. I hate to write a bad review however this is unfortunately necessary. We arrived and were taken to our table. The garden itself is beautiful and such a lovely environment, however that is realistically the only positive I can provide surrounding our visit today. A waitress came to take our order and after being told more things were out of stock - even after being told upon entry that there was only one item they did not have - the experience continued to worsen. "Loaded fries" was on the menu, but no details surrounding them. We asked what they were and the waitress said "I dunno" and just stood there staring at us. We had to ask her to go to the kitchen and find out due to there being allergies. When she returned she never asked about the allergies which although weren't an issue this could be very different, and we even commented on how we were glad we hadn't bought another member of the family as we wouldn't have felt safe getting them food. Moreover, I was not asked for ID for my gin, and being only 19, with no make up on, this is a huge safety risk. I work for an ID checking company and if I had been on duty this would have compromised the business. After placing our order we were then told there was a half an hour wait. This was frustrating, although understandable. Yet, 53 minutes later, our food arrived, but not all together. It was then another 5 minutes before the final dish arrived (loaded fries), which by that time the others had almost finished their food. Finally, we heard members of staff talking very rudely about customers right next to us, with real attitude. It was a horrible experience and we are aware that others felt the same. We watched tables send their food back, and refuse to pay the bill due to the service received. Overall it was a disappointment. The staff appeared to have no time for the customers, or care about their safety - apart from the young gentleman behind the bar who appeared to working incredibly hard - I will unfortunately not be recommending Ivy's to anyone. So sad, as its such a...
Read moreGreat coffee, tried this lil place for the first time a few days ago (AM Monday 7th Feb) and really liked it, the coffee was spot on and staff were lovely. However today late AM Friday 11th Feb it couldn't have been more different. The coffee was still lush but it wasn't hot enough for me, so I went back in to ask them to heat it up for me. I wasn't attended to for quite some time since the manager was busy talking to his friends, he looked at me and carried on talking. He eventually serves me, goes to put the cup on a saucer and I asked him not to, he said to me "don't tell me what to do" I then told him he was rude, he said he wasn't, I then go on to tell him he has a bad attitude and that he ignored me etc, he denied then informed me I wasn't welcome back. !!! Well I was still going to drink my coffee that I paid almost £3 for. He came outside and I asked him why he was so rude to me, and I didn't want it on a saucer since I've a walking stick and it's harder to carry he said he didn't want to talk about it and I wasn't allowed back, and I should've asked him to carry it!! If he's really the manager and this is the way he treats customers, I can't see this place lasting long. One bad apple and all that, which is a shame really .. all over a bloody saucer!! Pathetic!! A generous 2star since the coffee is nice and all the other staff...
Read moreCouldn't / wouldn't recommend I am afraid. Went in blind. The menu seemed appealing, the decor and ambience was nice. "Homemade" sausage roll way overcooked and dried out (sausage and pastry) Not sure how old it was? But came with plenty of leaf/ rocket. No chutney, or dip/ actual side salad or anything and was quite tepid. Sausage dry and bland, pastry, with a nice helping of burnt herbs on top was tough and dense to cut. Pulled pork bun was a measley serving in a bun with an absolute comical amount of rocket on top. I'm glad in a way because the pulled pork was shot with a hint of awfully sickly sweet BBQ and that was about it. Lacked any seasoning or flavour. Where's the sauce, maybe some apple relish? Where's the smoky bourbon flavour? Coleslaw again was 'watery' not the creamy type. I don't mind a tangy slaw instead but this wasn't either. It was basically julienned veg in a water. The chips while seasoned were cold. I'd hate to put this down to a 'bad day' for the chef but this is the type of food you can make at home for half the price and better by not actually doing that much more. This isnt tricky stuff. Everything lacked in depth I am afraid. The staff , while nice, seem too preoccupied with their own affairs to offer any sort of urgency or engagement. Safe to say...
