I decided to visit this restaurant whilst staying locally & loved it so much that I went back the very next day, as both the service & the food quality were outstanding, they also do have a take away at the front of the premises.
The first time I ordered the cod & chips with a portion of mushy peas just in case the chips were dry like some places are, I was served by a lovely friendly lady who took my order & brought it out to me when it had been freshly cooked, the cod was just how I like it, thick, moist & chunky pure white fish that was cooked to perfection, encased in the most lightest melt in your mouth batter, the chips were very tasty potato quality & the mushy peas were generous & hot just like everything else was, the next day I chose just the cod & chips & ordered from a different but equally friendly lady, when my meal arrived the batter did look darker than the previous day & I worried that the fish may of been dry inside as I didn't order mushy peas, but wrong as it was still equally as tasty plus I actually could of eaten it again & I NEVER really eat that much, whoever lives local & has this as their local chip shop or a regular user of this relaxing restaurant are EXTREMELY lucky people, fantastic quality & a 5 star service, thank...

Some key points to note: Some incredibly generous portion sizes! I was really impressed, espcially coming from London where portion sizes are normally tiny. The mushy peas were really good. They were quite firm, not sloppy like some places do. I really liked them. Forget soggy chips - these crisps had a perfectly crisp outside with a tiny crunch, whilst still being fluffy inside. The fish was really good too. Batter was crispy and also was not greasy. The waitress who served us was really friendly and made us feel very welcome. However, when we finished our meal (approx 8:30pm), we waited 20 minutes to get the bill and another 10 minutes before we got fed up and walked up ourselves to the front desk to pay. Upon leaving, we were not even given the customary 'thank you' which they gave other customers. It's a shame because the service before this was perfect and the restaurant was not overly packed at this time. This is the only reason why I am giving 4*...
Read moreA 4 star fish and chip restaurant. Comfortable and casual restaurant, interesting pictures on the walls. Eat in or takeaway. Very clean. Welcoming and attentive staff. Fish can also be grilled. Chips very good. Large portions. Also grills available. The salt and pepper battered squid is very tasty and reliable. Not sure whether wine goes with vinagery chips but it's available, as is a small selection of beers. Placed on the High Street, you could have a takeaway on the almost adjacent Leas overlooking the sea. Nearby is Sainsbury's and a blue plaque for Samuel Plimsoll (as in the shipping...
