We ate at Bill's this past week as a pop-in during our time in the nearby areas. While the initial appeal was good—thanks to positive Google reviews, the appearance of the place online, and the menu options we saw online—we were left a bit confused after our visit.
For one, the menu options available seemed to be miscommunicated or misunderstood by most of the staff. Certain menus that couldn't be ordered, like the pancake pamphlet, were still left on the table, adding to the confusion. The overall layout of the menu we were given when seated seemed a bit all over the place. Additionally, the menu available on the website was not accurate, so when we arrived thinking we would be ordering certain items, pretty much nothing we had chosen initially was available.
The wait staff was relatively accommodating when we asked if they could make an exception, which was nice. However, at times it was confusing who exactly was our waitperson. When the food did arrive, it was bland, but that could definitely be a cultural thing—we’re not sure. More seasoning of any nature would be appreciated by most, one can assume, as everyone dining when we were seemed to be using what was available on the tables.
When we finished eating, we asked the waitstaff for the check (which we had specified would need to be split at the beginning of our meal), and it arrived in full. When I brought this up with the waitstaff, they seemed a bit put out and hurried to make sure I was aware they would "deal with it in a moment." So, we were a bit confused overall, but again, this could definitely be due to different cultural expectations.
Aside from that, we did get seated, we did get food, and we were eventually able to pay our tabs as we had asked initially, so... not bad, but could...
Read moreWe came here for dinner and it was a very enjoyable experience. We had to go elsewhere for a early dinner drink as no available seats inside and our reserved table still had people finishing their meals! However, the staff were friendly, welcoming and asked us to come back nearer the time of our booking. It's decorated very well and a vibrant modern atmosphere inside. To start, we shared the Halloumi Fries with lime aioli and these were utterly delicious. Then, my other half had the "Pan Fried Sea Bass" and I had the "Bill's Classic Burger" with chips. Both were delicious although the Sea Bass could have been accompanied with some vegetables etc...only saw that you could have had this but as extras! Our drinks were good but having to have a Peroni lager on tap wasn't my ideal being a true ale drinker... The pudding was shared as we were both rather full by then and we were told to go for the "Warm Triple Chocolate Brownie" as the one we wanted initially was sold out! Good choice as it was very delicious. Finished our pleasant meal and evening with some great coffee and a Jameson's Irish whisky.
A special thanks to Rudy for being extremely attentive and friendly! Well done and thanks to the rest of the other staff too..
ps. Bill's Restaurants Ltd do add an "automatic 12.5% Service surcharge" onto your bill which I would have preferred to having this at the clients own discretion and the level of service...

We were after a nice brunch as our first family meal out in ages and were so disappointed. One star might seem harsh as the food was edible and the service was OK - but it was so expensive it needed to be great to justify the price.
As a family of 4 it cost £60 for brunch. I had Bill’s Brunch at £13; the portion was stingy – 1 small sausage a sprinkling of beans and a few diced potatoes, It was cold and some how the eggs were both undercooked and overcooked (jelly on the white’s and solid yolks). Oddly there was also water in my butter dish?
Both my boys had pancake stacks that looked great, but they were dry and despite both having a sweet tooth, even they couldn’t stand the sweetness; dusted in sugar and slavered with golden syrup. Not a hint of an appropriate syrup to justify the £9.99 a portion – even McDonalds pancakes are better with something roughly impersonating maple syrup.
I’d have made the point to complain, but the staff didn’t bother to enquire if everything was OK. Definitely not somewhere I’ll be...
