Visited today on a shopping visit to Gloucester Quays. Decided to sit outside near to the river. Table 302. Went to the bar and ordered drinks and food. The barman on taking the table number didn't mention any problems that may occur when sitting at these outside tables. Returned to my wife and sat enjoying the view, sunshine and atmosphere. A waiter arrived with our food and placed it on the table. Again there was no mention of any problem by the waiter that might occur whilst sat at these tables. Whilst I went to fetch some condiments my wife was attacked by at least 6 seagulls (Herongulls) whilst trying to protect the food. At least one of the gulls attacked her one hand and this experience has really frightened her. We are both active 75 year olds. However we lost all of our food with the exception of one chicken wing.😂 My wife went into the bar to complain about the lack of information regarding the gulls only to be told by the barman...There are signs about the gulls. She then asked to speak to the manager who reiterated that they have complied with legislation with signage and it was company policy not to replace any food taken or ruined by gulls. My wife informed me of the conversations so I went to try and find this 'Signage' which I failed to see anywhere on the terrace area. I then asked a young waiter where I might find any signage and he showed me a small sign on a column - in an area which is dimly lit - and to the right of the doors out to the terrace. All very well but it is not prominent and when you are passing through - carrying drinks -and with other clients coming in from the terrace the last thing that might catch your eye is this sign. I feel that management and whoever is responsible for customer safety has failed to mitigate their responsibilities towards informing the clients of a potential hazard and warning of possible impending injury due to Herongulls diving down to steal food. All of this could be resolved by a sign affixed to each table by the QR code informing clients of the problem, especially those (like us) who are frequenting the pub for the first and possibly only time or attached to the posts holding the festoon lights on the waters edge. I will be writing directly to Sir Tim Martin to bring this matter to his attention. When you look at the photos you will see how gloomy it is by the poor quality...
Read moreI"ve been a regular customer at the Lord High Constable at the Keys in Gloucester for a long time—easily over 100 visits in the past year. Until now, I’ve always found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and attentive apart from one gentleman with a beard and glasses. In fact, the team (especially the lady who served me at the bar on my last visit) has consistently delivered great service, and I’ve recommended this place to many friends and colleagues. Unfortunately, my experience last Sunday 24/8/2025 was very disappointing. My meal arrived missing the eggs I’d ordered. I understand mistakes happen and initially wasn’t upset—I simply mentioned it to the staff member who took my order and she told the so called server, the guy with the beard and glasses who unfortunately had served me again on this occasion., and assured me it would be sorted. However, after waiting more than 20 minutes with no sign of my eggs, I went downstairs to follow up with the server (the gentleman with a beard and glasses). He was serving someone else and told me as much, so I returned upstairs to wait again as I presumed he was going to bring the eggs up afterwards. After another lengthy wait and still no eggs, I went back down and found the so called server chatting with his manageress and other staff at the bar. The restaurant wasn’t busy at this point, so I asked again about my missing food. Instead of resolving the issue, the server acted as if he had no idea what I was talking about. When I tried to clarify, he accused me of being aggressive, which was not the case—I was frustrated, but remained respectful. At this point, my meal was cold and my young son had already finished his food nearly an hour earlier, so we decided to leave. The manageress was present, but by then I didn’t feel the situation would be resolved. I want to stress that this is the first negative experience I’ve had here, and it was limited to this one staff member. Every other team member, especially the lady behind the bar, was helpful and professional as always. I hope this feedback helps improve consistency, as I would love to continue recommending the Lord High...
Read moreNice pub cheap drinks, Very busy but reasonable. But will say standard here compared to other Wetherspoons is not good. Tables outside not cleared. Staff take food and drink outside but don't collect empties. Having done bar work and waitressing you drop and collect. The staff just amble about apart from John. Penn and another young lad 03/04/2025. They don't deliver App orders very quick and to point you have to collect yourself and it's not busy today. The glasses are piling up and waiting to be washed and staff not doing anything just ignore. Think manager for this place needs retraining to train the staff to a high standard. One young lad enjoys talking more than working. We enjoy coming here and will continue to come. But do rate The Regal higher than here as their work ethic alot higher in standard.. Do enjoy the deals.. Have to say 03/04/2025 Tristan is a hard worker and a really lovely person and friendly.. 05/04/2025. Very busy again in here and a nice day. Nice to see same young lad from Thursday working hard. He stood quick chat and off working all around the place. Well done Ben.. Really think should sort staff to deliver drinks from App. I've watched people go in and 2 minutes later come out with a drink. We are still waiting 25 minutes later. Before you say busy day then should sort staff knowing Friday and start of bank holiday. Even if not bank holiday should sort staff especially weekends.. Organisation is a good thing.. Well bank holiday weekend and no bottles of...
