Bao Bites — Restaurant in Great Britain

Food is great, but it’s just an all bit chaotic. There doesn’t seem to be a great system of ordering and collecting, and difficult to tell if people are sat waiting for orders or eating in or what’s going on. As soon as we get there they shout ‘Vanilla Bubble tea’ and some kid comes up and starts walking off with it, but it’s not his order. He must have a different vanilla tea on order. Various other orders are shouted out and nobody seems to hear. Some people are upstairs so can’t hear. Anyway, we ordered Sweet Chili Chicken bao and Scriracha Pork rice. They seemed to stop taking orders immediately after us and a queue of people started gathering at the til wondering what was going on. Waited a good 15 minutes for our food. Eventually they called ‘Chili Chicken, Scriracha Pork’- great, it’s ready- so went up and got it. Came back to where we were sat and opened up and realised our order had been very slightly messed up and they’d given me a Bao bun instead of a rice box. Otherwise it was all the same so no bother, I won’t make a big deal out of it- they seemed a bit busy and person who took my order seemed super rushed and was only half-listening. 5 minutes after I’d been eating it they shouted ‘Chili Chicken and Pork Rice’. Oh. That might actually be our order. But wait, nobody else in here seems to be waiting for food? Out of the shadows a couple go up to collect it and then get annoyed their order is messed up. Then they realised that WE had their order- because the staff told them we had it! Great, thanks for that. So then the couple come up and start making snarky comments to us about taking their order. Sorry- I thought this was our order, and I can’t give it back now, I’ve been eating it. But hey thanks Bao Bites for putting us in that situation.

Went in and was met by friendly staff and was asked what we'd like. I ordered the Rice bowl with Sweet and Sticky Belly of Pork with the Super Hot Sauce(reaper Chillies) and the wife had the Rice Bowl with Crispy Buttermilk Chicken with the Sweet Chilli Sauce and no drinks. The Chef asked the wife if I was ok with the Super Hot as it was made with Reaper Chillies and she gave the go ahead as I've had them before. We sat down and watched the Chef cooking it up fresh and it was just a few minutes till it go to us at the table. Yep it was what I expected good on the eye and the nose, then with the first bite there was a nice bit of heat and loads of flavour from the food. We enjoyed every bit of the meal from start to finish and the Mrs was asking if I was ok because of the sauce on the pork, yeah I was ok, just a healthy glow in the cheeks. The next time we're in Truro we're going back to this little place and try some more, if you go, pop in and have a meal, you won't regret it. Just been back, once again top notch and keep up the good work people...

DELICIOUS baos, SUPER reasonable prices, served up quickly with amazing amazing generous tasty salad. I think I would eat here more but I kind of forget it’s there because it’s tucked away on a street I don’t walk on much. But could not recommend it anymore for a good balance of what feels like naughty treat food but with healthy components. Only thing I wish they did was a tempeh or tofu option for the veggies because vegetarians need protein, and pulled mushrooms don’t really do it for me. I’m gonna try the rice box next.
