I am writing to express my disappointment with the takeaway service I received during my recent visit to your restaurant.
I came in with my wife to order some food for takeaway. Everything went smoothly at first we placed our order and waited patiently without rushing. However, when the food was ready, I noticed the waiter carrying our takeaway bag in one hand while holding plates in the other. He placed our bag of food on a chair a bit further away, then proceeded to serve seated customers and spend some time behind the bar, leaving our food unattended for around ten minutes.
When I finally asked my wife to go towards the bag, the waiter suddenly followed her and claimed that the bag was ours. I questioned why it had been left sitting there for so long, and the explanations given were inconsistent first that it was a busy night (despite only two tables being occupied), and then that he had gone behind the bar to ask if we had paid. It was clear that no such check had taken place, as we were standing right in front of the bar the whole time.
Although he later apologised, the issue isn’t about the apology it’s about the lack of basic customer service and care. Leaving takeaway food unattended on a chair instead of keeping it in a proper place, such as a hot cupboard, is simply unacceptable. The situation could easily have been avoided if the waiter had communicated with his colleagues or handed the bag directly to us once it was ready.
I didn’t find this experience acceptable, especially considering how easily it could have been handled better. I hope you take this feedback seriously and ensure your staff maintain better standards of customer service in the future.
For reference i have attached proof of payment before the owners claim this as a...
Read moreA mixed experience. Waited 20 minutes for a pimms, which the staff did apologise for. My partner ordered a mocktail, and 2 came out, so it must have been a happy hour? For our starters, my partner did not like the vegetable dumplings, but I thought they were nice and light with a wonderfully delicate pastry. The poppadoms were great, and the portion was good, the lemon chutney was not for us, but the other 2 sauces were good. The tandoori broccoli was fine. My partner loved his curry (lamb rogan josh) and said it was excellent. My chef special prawn biryani was unfortunately not for me. It was bitter and dry, and the pastry top was tough and chewy. I ate the prawns and used the raita on the pastry, but could not eat the rice. The staff did kindly ask if I wanted anything else, but I felt too bad to order a second meal, as this was meant to be a treat for date night, only to be told at the end of the meal that I could have asked for biryani sauce or another meal instead on the house. Had I been told this more clearly earlier, or had the option of biryani sauce on request been added on as information in the menu, my partner and I could have eaten together for date night, instead of him eating alone. The staff did explain biryani is meant to be dry (which I know, but I have not had one this dry before) and kindly offered me a curry to take home. I opted for the green vegetable, and was given a half portion to take away, which smells good. I'm gutted as I've heard good things about Base Camp, and have been looking forward to it for ages. We will try again another time as my partner enjoyed his curry and the staff were so nice. The individual curries everyone around us had looked great, so I look forward to trying again...
Read moreThere were 22 of us for a works leaving do, they accomdated us well, we had a large table so everyone sat together, we pre-ordered food and when everyone arrived the food was freshly prepared. It was really tasty and they even prepared a desi style dish for one of my colleagues. Drinks were fab too lots of choice. Really good atmosphere. The reason for the overall 4 stars is that when it came to paying the bill which was almost £700, there was some confusion from the restaurant. Everyone paid for what they had ordered as there were variations in quantity of meal courses and quantity of drinks consumed per person, so was unfair for everyone to pay extra and split the bill - some of our group paid and left earlier than the rest of us yet there was a considerable shortfall when the rest of us were leaving. We stayed an additional 15-20 mins to work out what had happened, it turns out they had all paid a different person at the till and those receipts were not added to the final total and only at the last minute when our server asked them it became apparent everyone had paid. We did not see the bill and were only given the menus back to work out amongst ourselves which we did honestly, but the bill should have been edited each time to reflect the meals that were being paid for and this would had sorted out the problem we were faced with, that being a significant shortfall as we were leaving. It was stressful and one of the colleagues was even willing to pay the extra money just to sort it out which clearly was...
