We paid around £170 and left feeling very disappointed and did not enjoy our visit because of: • The excessive sweetness of the food • The lack of patience from the staff • Feeling that we were treated disrespectfully
I came with my family from England expecting a respectful and welcoming environment. I have read other reviews here, and I believe the staff need customer service training.
Here are some examples of our experience: When we tried to take a photo of the food, a staff member stopped us, saying, “No, let me finish,” in a dismissive tone. When we attempted to pray quietly in the corner of our table, we were approached in a disrespectful manner, “ this is a restaurant not a mosque” the waiter said to me. The staff selected a table for us, but when we requested a free table by the lakeside, they initially refused, even though it was not reserved. They only agreed after I insisted. We raised concerns about the food being too sweet to enjoy, but instead of listening, the staff argued that it was “perfect” and “normal sweetness.”
We have dined at many Indian and South Asian restaurants in the UK and abroad, so we are familiar with the taste and quality of such cuisine. However, we were made to feel as though we knew nothing about the food, as the staff repeatedly insisted their version was correct.
On the positive side, the restaurant was clean, in a beautiful location, and it is great to have Asian halal dining options in this area. However, customer service is just as important, and unfortunately, it was lacking...
Read moreI think the only reason the place is rated high is because it's probably the only place in the town.
The food does't remotely taste Indian and the prices are giving competition to the Dishoom (London) where food and service is probably 10x better, I feel sad, people deserve better Indian food in this part of world as well.
About Food and services: I visited with 2 of my friends on 8th of April, It is a busy place, clearly as there are no other options, We waited for 30 mins for the table. We ordered few drinks and starters, Service was super slow and the vegetable samosa was horrible, they probably use the frozen samosa from supermarkets. 1/5
Main course was even worse, My Paneer Aam Achari was underwhelming, Paneer blocks were slightly firm and gravy did't taste anywhere close to authentic. 1/5
Daal tadka neither had good tadka nor any salt and we had to request extra salt for this. 0/5
My friends had some Tandoori chicken and seemed highly disappointed -1 /5
Naans- we placed request for 2 Garlic naan's and 2 coriander naan's at the very beginning, they brought us 1 of each and after that forget to bring the rest of the order, we waited almost 15 mins while curries went cold. Naan Itself were nowhere close to naan's but were better as compared to rest of the order 2/5
There is a lot of room for improvements and for people with entrepreneurial mindset an opportunity as the competition is a joke for Indian food.
1/5 as can't go...
Read moreWhere do I even begin with the disaster that is Spice Tandoori? If you have even a hint of Indian heritage or an ounce of taste for authentic Indian food, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS JOKE OF A RESTAURANT!
Calling their dishes "spiced" is an insult to spices everywhere. It's like they're afraid of flavor and decided to rob every dish of its essence. The pitiful excuse they call chicken Tikka Masala was nothing short of an abomination.
Their so-called "chef" must be some kind of sadistic genius to manage to make Indian cuisine taste so disgustingly sweet. It is like they confused the dessert menu with the main course.
The food was an insult to Indian culture and the very essence of the cuisine. I've tasted more authenticity in a microwave-ready meal! It's an absolute disgrace, and I'm appalled that they dare to charge people 12-15 GBP per dish for this culinary catastrophe!
And don't even get me started on the horrendous service. The staff seemed to have a mission to be as unhelpful and rude as possible. Our party had to chase down servers for every request, and we were seated right next to the checkout!
The only redeeming factor is the atmosphere, but it does little to offset the garbage that you end up having to force feed yourself. Save yourself the agony and find a real Indian restaurant with chefs who actually know what they're doing. Spice Tandoori doesn't deserve your time, money,...
