decided to visit the sea-side after celebrating Fabric's birthday with my friends in London. I thought that Brighton would be a city of past glory with an abandoned ferris wheel - but hey why not give it a go; it must have some scene anyway. Worst case scenario the sauna in Queen's hotel and the seabreeze would give me some peace of mind and I would have two boring days after a two day bender.
How wrong could I be, the ferris wheel is not even there anymore and Brighton is buzzing! Lots to see, eat and the people are lovely!
When you are in Brighton, make sure to visit Burger & Lobster. Knackered from the weekend, me and my mate heard about an oyster happy hour between 3pm and 6pm. We went for the full monty.
After being welcomed by lovely Julia we were served two dozens of oysters, a bottle of wine and some great stories. Then Fatime brought us our mains as she took over Julia's shift with the same heart-warming service. We had the shared menu with, indeed, burger and lobster (grilled and cooked). Shout out to the chefs for the tastefull dishes. The chefs seemed to have fun in doing their job without any concessions in terms of quality or waiting time.
With a full and satisfied belly we decided to take a little nap to prepare for a night out. Instead, we slept around the clock which leaves me with even more unfinished business then I otherwise would have.
Perfection is lots of little things done well, chef Marco Pierre White once said. Burger and Lobster does that without any pretentiousness for reasonable prices. Highly recommended. Big love from Amsterdam to the staff. I...
Read moreWent to grab a celebratory lunch with my family and brother in-law's friends after his graduation and he recommended the restaurant to grab a bite. Ambience was lovely although the restaurant is quite hidden along an alley. Father in-law and I ordered a grilled lobster with salad and chips on the side after 1st waiter took our drinks order. It took a while before drinks came in and the time between when that was served and the food being served was approximately 19 minutes.
I was not impressed with the lobster AT ALL, it was over grilled with parts of the shells and legs black, lemon and butter glaze was served on the side rather than being glazed on the lobster itself. The size and weight. of the lobster on both orders - I can say is less than 3 years old at best (literally a teen lobster about to enter their prime). I have had the same length of lobster at the Lobster Pot in Nottingham (see my review on that) is much meatier, juicier and perfectly cooked as compared to this claw bland blob!
I expected a wonderfully grilled lobster since it's part of the restaurant's name but it was not so which is disappointing. The glaze sauce on the other hand is full of butter and not as rich in taste as you would expect. Salad was a bit meh with parmesan on it - which is a waste of money to the restaurant in my opinion because a good salad won't need that much cheese or any cheese as a matter of fact!.
To conclude, I will suggest you look elsewhere for anything seafood related other than there.
Side note: THEY...
Read moreHad an absolutely fantastic evening at Burger & Lobster tonight, and I must thank their staff for their thoughtfulness, professionalism and hospitality:
To elaborate, we’d initially been seated across from a pretty rowdy bunch of lads — no shame, it’s a Saturday and 17:00 is as good a time as any to hit the sauce! — but the loud swearing and banter became a bit obnoxious, and really didn’t make for a welcoming vibe. The manager (I believe they were a manager) was very quick to move us to a more comfortable area, and to negotiate with the louder table for other guests, which shows excellent customer service, as well as kindness to the other group too, (I’m sure they didn’t mean to be rude).
Now, all the service staff were immensely kind; were even happy to swap a cocktail one of our number didn’t enjoy for no charge, which was extremely generous; but I must shout out Anoushka in particular:
Anoushka had perhaps overheard it was a late birthday dinner for me, and organised a special ‘Happy Birthday’ mini dessert, which was incredibly thoughtful. I really was floored by the gesture — what a lovely and thoughtful thing to do, and a demonstration of real connection with the table while serving!
I really cannot stress how much this service took our night from ‘good’ to ‘golden’. Thank you to all the staff who served us this evening, and especially to Anoushka for such a kind...
