Great staff and the place is clearly doing a great trade, however as a chef myself I am particularly passionate about as they put it “ our national dish” the full English breakfast. The BC beans although tasty enough had no place on an English breakfast, standard baked beans would have been far more authentic. For a “full Monty” to only come with a single sausage I felt was poor. One of my fried eggs had a skin on the yolk whereas the other didn’t, I don’t think they were cooked together, one had sat under the lights too long. When I do go to a greasy spoon I tend to leave the mushrooms as they are often “boiled in there own juice rather than fried, but in this seemingly higher end venue, paying 17.50 I expected the mushrooms to have hit a hot pan and be seasoned correctly, not be watery and insipid. And the whole plate needed to be warmer, by the time I had finished (and I eat quickly) it was cold, especially the mushrooms, releasing cold water into my mouth as a chewed them we not nice at all. True it was a cold day, but my plate wasn’t hot, this would have helped keep the whole thing warmer.
My girlfriend’s pancakes were stodgy and again not hot enough.
A nice place but a bit of an insult to a Full English breakfast especially...
Read moreHaving been here a few times when visiting Brighton in recent years it was a shame our last visit wasn't a good experience. Sunday morning breakfast here is a great treat, you can really go to town and spoil yourself. The dishes we have always taste good and are well presented. However, when we last visited (last week of September) the time it took from the point of ordering to our food arriving was disappointing. For a table of 3 it took 40 minutes. Our drinks arrived promptly but were consumed by the time our food was presented. We noticed 2 other tables experienced similar delays. Directly opposite a table of 2 waited 15 minutes to place their order and another 35 before their food arrived. All the time we were patiently waiting we saw that food was rapidly leaving the premises for online deliveries. This seemed to be a noticeable priority. Good for the business but not a great model for seated customers. Our servers were friendly but sensing the tables were being delayed they remained in the wings only tending to tables when there was a need to. Regrettably, and for the first time ever, I asked that the included service charge be removed from our bill. Sorry Breakfast Club Brighton, we won't be...
Read moreThis was our first time coming here and we ordered a tap water, latte, veggie breakfast roll and avocado + extras on sourdough. The total came to 31.50 - tiny portions that didn’t reflect the price as both of us left quite hungry. £10 for some avocado and cheese in a small roll did feel a little insulting, especially as it tasted quite oily. My sourdough for £14 was only one slice of bread! When it came to paying the receipt was put upside down on the table and at the same time, the waitress handed over the card machine which we felt a little obliged to tap straight away. Only after paying did we get a chance to look at the receipt where we were charged a £3.50 service fee. We normally tip at restaurants, especially smaller/independent places but we didn’t feel the service deserved anything as the waiters weren’t very friendly/welcoming and we had to remind them we wanted tap water after they forgot to give it to us originally. In the end, we got up to get the tap water ourselves - which would’ve been okay if they’d told us to do so originally and didn’t expect a service fee for! Generally very disappointed which is sad because the menu looked lovely and the inside...
