Worst Sip and Paint class ever! We went to Sip and Paint yesterday celebrating my daughterâs 21st, the person unfortunately wanted to be anywhere but there. She poured out 5 small glasses of prosecco and took the rest and put it away. Then we spent 20 mins scribbling on paper and swapping it around. Then she just said thereâs paint in the cupboard and pointed to the cupboard and said you can paint what you want. We said are you not going to give us some direction? She said no. Handed us a book of printed pictures and went and sat down. Considering the advert said âyou will be guided through the painting processâ and I have been to these classes elsewhere before where it was a proper interactive class, this was just not up to standard. Considering it was my daughterâs 21st and we having our own laugh, she never interacted with us after we started painting, she didnât even speak to my daughter whoâs birthday it was, she just sat on her phone and called out every now and again how many minutes were left. My advice is to check out other classes other than this one, we paid ÂŁ139 for ÂŁ20 worth of paint and board (not even canvas) and an ÂŁ8 bottle of prosecco that we were not allowed to finish because she took it away. Oh and a packet of Oreoâs.
I must say the guy downstairs was really friendly and welcoming, pity he didnât...

We had such a fun and relaxed time at the Sip and Paint class! The atmosphere was perfect for celebrating a special occasion on a nice Saturday afternoon. Honestly, I am no artist! but it gave us the freedom to express our creativity in a really laid-back way. Bethan, the host, provided everything we needed for the sessionâplenty of paint, boards, and even a book of inspiration to get us started.
What I loved most was how hands-off the experience was, which let us create at our own pace without feeling rushed or pressured. Bethan was supportive, but didn't push in certain direction (I had a fear I would be terrible at this!). Was much more fun than I expected!
The prosecco was a lovely touch, and we were more than satisfied with what was provided. The fact that it wasnât a rigid, step-by-step class made it feel more personal and gave us a chance to really enjoy the moment with friends and family. For those looking for a structured tutorial, it might not be the style they expect, but for us, it was a perfect mix of creativity and fun.
Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a more laid-back, social...
Read moreLiberation Art Gallery is a unique, vibrant and vital part of the Brighton & Hove art scene!
As a practising artist, Iâve been working with Liberation myself since May 2024, and itâs been such a positive and confidence-boosting experience for me. Self-belief and confidence in myself and my art is something I find difficult. Like the other artists who work/exhibit with Liberation Gallery, I have struggled with mental health issues in the past, and being granted the opportunity to talk freely about these issues, express them through art, and share/talk about it with the gallery visitors has been wonderful for me.
Caroline is so passionate and supportive of her artists, and really recognises the value in what they do. Getting to know the other artists and their stories has made me feel like Iâm not alone in my struggles and has reminded me how important creativity is (for all of us!) Iâm really excited to see Liberation...
