Be very careful going in here. I was misled into Elevens on 21st February 2020 by James P Davies lead singer of Shopgirls at 3.30 pm after originally arranging to meet at Barkers Coffee shop. He changed the venue at the last minute to Elevens, describing it as Gareth Bale's pub. Unbeknown to me it was a Brains pub. The bar woman with strawberry blonde hair, short with a fat belly who said that her name was Lara when I spoke to her the following Tuesday and asked what her name was which was recorded as I am able to do apparently had only one soft drink available throughout the bar. She said on that Tuesday that she was the landlady and that she would check the CCTV. The only name I can find on the reviews is Laura Gorf. This woman alleged her name was Lara. I told her I had been spiked in the Albany on 19th April 2019 with GHB and I had been really ill and I had just got the MRI results the night before showing that there had been a lot of damage as a result and that the neurologist suspected brain inflammation. I have demyelination of the brain and spinal chord as well as lesions to C3 and C4 as a result of Chris Upsdale poisoning me as can be seen in the CCTV and Jo the predatory swinger can be seen trying to hide him doing it. This woman who called herself Lara could have told me it was a Brains pub and I could have left. Instead she kept asking me to have a glass and when I agreed she snatched my can from my hand and put it in the glass and threw the can away. I believe she poisoned me It was the same day I received papers from Brains in relation to their strike out application of my case against them and a date for the hearing on 9th March 2020 which was obviously cancelled as after drinking two mouthfuls , I drank no more realised I was poisoned and was awake for 10 days. An ambulance had to be called a week later as my breathing was so shallow. James P Davies and his friend Mark who was with 10 year old Bella wearing glasses who said she was going to big school this September kept asking where I live, would I go to James' flat and would I like a lift home. I am shocked that, the landlady who called herself Lara would try and murder me to stop be going to court after being incited to do so by I believe Charles Brain who emailed me directly a few days later. The barrister who has taken an undertaking to preserve the CCTV gave a wrong name on the telephone hearing which was confirmed by the investigating officer who listened to the hearing after I made a complaint about the judge. He is now being investigated by the Bar Standards Board. More recently another barrister lied and said that the hearing referred to above that had already taken place, was going to take place in order to falsely obtain documents that he had no right to have access to. That deception has also been referred to the BSB. James P Davies played at Lord Mayor Dan De'ath's inauguration and they have both played with Pete Docherty. It turns out Dan who was my local councillor is married to Rebecca Crump who was my criminal law lecturer and is also a criminal defence solicitor notorious for getting drug dealers off Look at her profile! She has said its lucrative, glamorous and she likes the media attention of the cases in which she has got drug dealers off.
Rebecca Crump is from South East London and Dan De' ath is from Warwickshire. She hates living in Wales and cannot wait to get back to London she has said. Are you telling me Cardiff cannot find a good black man in Cardiff to be mayor? Pete Docherty's music is soulless and he's a self confessed junkie, smack head who has as one journalist's article described him as having been implicated in three murders, two of which involve drugs. Take testers and test your drinks and report it if there are any drugs...
Read moreBefore anything, I'll start this by saying that I love going to Elevens, but I can't in my right mind give it anything higher than 3/5 to anyone checking it out for the first time. (I'd give it a 5/10 but that doesn't convert to a star system!)
Firstly, the good - Elevens is by far my favourite sports bar in Cardiff, and possibly in all of South Wales. It does everything you would want with a great atmosphere, sport all day, great location, and lots of really interesting memorabilia on display. The selection of drinks is pretty solid - with the 'Bale' brand of ale/lager absolutely worth a try too. Food menu is also varied and interesting, offering some classic options but also plenty of intriguing choices too. The online ordering system in the COVID era is also smooth and surprisingly quick too.
But the reason that Elevens falls short for me comes down mostly to the price - especially given that there are a lot of cheaper options very near the bar. Pints are expensive, and the food menu prices can be pretty shocking too, especially given the pretty mediocre standard of the food. (I would definitely avoid the doughnuts, mine were overcooked, tasted pretty awful, and came with cheap sauces which unfortunately were the highlight of the dish!)
Elevens is strange because once you become accustomed to the high prices and average food, the charm and atmosphere grows on you and you find yourself returning over and over - I'll almost certainly be returning over and over in the future! Would I recommend it to someone just looking for a meal or a pint? Absolutely not. Would I recommend it for a sports fan looking for somewhere to watch the match? Possibly, but only if you're willing to pay more than...
Read moreGareth Bale’s restaurant was a cool spot, but probably not the best spot ever to watch a Wales football match. The place ended up filling up a bit with fans watching the game, but the atmosphere wasn’t super great/passionate. I’m sure that’s partly due to it being a newer spot.
I ordered the steak & chips. The steak was good, but wasn’t one to write home about. I did enjoy the chimichurri sauce on the steak and the onions and arugula garnish on the side. The chips were decent and had a nice crisp to them.
Ordering the food from the QR code in the table wasn’t super clear and we ended up ordering additional sides (sweet potato fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and the curry dough balls) when we thought we were ordering them in place of the chips. The sides were all good though with the sweet potato fries being my favorite. We got the Oreo Fudge Sunday which was a perfect dessert to share between the 3 us. It was quite good!
We tried the 3 “Bale Beers” which were all pretty good! The Bale glasses were a nice touch too!
The decor around the place is pretty cool, from the player jerseys to the replica champions league trophy and the boots that he scored the bicycle kick against Liverpool in the champions league final in Cardiff. Pretty...
