Entrance is interesting; down an alley, past the bins! Accessible from the seafront but can be tricky to find, initially. A no frills, traditional drinking hole without the modern day stuff, i.e. no music, screens, pole dancing etc. Apparently, this location was originally used for canning pilchards, hence the name. Thankfully, no fishy smell remains. Prices are reasonable, good selection of beers available and the ales are well kept. Ambience is best described as old fashioned. Seems to get busy late afternoon. Friendly staff. Somewhat unusual but highly recommended.

What a great place this is. Tiny cellar bar a stonesthrow from the Harbour. A weekly changing choice of real ales. Great staff who are more than happy to help. We visited 4 times in our week in St Ives and it would have been more had they not been closed 2 days. The secret is in its simplicity, this is how our great grandparents would have socialised. Keep up the good work.

Superb St. Ives alehouse just off the main harbour street. Tasty selection of kegs, bottles and ciders. I had a smooth Skinner's Hops 'n' Honey and a St. Ives pear cider. Both excellent. Prices were very reasonable. Very atmospheric. Made even moreso by the folks singing sea shanties! Only open Thursday to Sunday to keep the liquids fresh. Highly recommended.

Wow what a place!! We love trying different places to drink but can't help coming back here nearly every day of our holiday in St Ives. Amazing knowledgeable bar staff, locals and owner, just what you want when your local at home is a camra pub of the year. Unique Cornish beers on tap and even the canned beer is chosen with care and love. The fact it is always reserved but you still get the friendliness of locals is a dream, we love the camera to harbour too. Will be talking about this place for a long time.. see you again...
