The worst service I ever had (from the moment we arrived to when we left) + afterwards they told us they had given our info to the police as they said we didn't pay = as if the dinner experience itself could have got any worse, it actually did!!!! First, we booked a table and arrived on time. We had to ask 3 different waiters about our booking, them pretending to prepare/look for our table, until one of those waiters ask again who we were, and then she went to bring people who arrived after us (were the same number) to their table, before to take care of us. We were fortunate that those were educated people who flagged to the waitress we had been waiting for longer and were the same number of people so should be sitting first..... So it starts well (this took already 20min from the time we arrived).
Then, we could see the chaos around us (between what had just happened and all the people sitted already with no food or water or anything, just waiting to catch a waiter/tress attention) so we tried to order 'fast' (if the food gets prepared as quickly as the service is, we'd better order quickly). We managed to place our order, but observing tables around us, after at least 20 additional minutes, we see a table of people who sat and ordered after us receiving their food...... So we asked if our order was on its way.. they mistook the number of the tables and our order had.. disappeared... So they had to take our order again. (Let's not forget the 3/4 times we had to ask for water before to actually get some, but that was the top of the iceberg vs. All the rest). So we might have got our food 1h15 after we arrived in the restaurant.
And one might say 'ok, that's a really bad experience but anyone who has a sense of working in service would manage to balance the bad experience with a commercial gesture (especially as we remained very polite all along this annoying journey). We were 4, shared starters, 4 big mains (including one not flagged as spicy on the menu but so spicy we couldn't eat it), drinks and their commercial gesture wasn't to offer us a dessert or to pay for the starters we had shared. Their gesture was offering us... The 2 bowls of rice... Cherry on the cake! So we paid and left, hoping that was the end of a very bad experience and not even good food.
Finally, the next day, we received a text saying "we shared your information with the police and CCTV shots of your faced as we have proof you left without paying". Are you kidding me????? So we had to call them, prove to them we had paid (especially as we had given 3 times the name of our reservation so again shows the restaurant's great organisation skills) for them to confirm it was all good.
Hopefully enough details to say to avoid this restaurant...
Read moreMy wife and I had a very hit and miss experience on a Saturday night meal here. Upon entry the staff member didn't actually say anything to us after we gave our name for our reservation, she just grabbed the menus and walked off, leaving the menus on an empty table and then wandered off before we even sat down. We waited about 15 minutes before being offered drinks by which time we were also ready to order food. We asked for a beer, a 20cl individual bottle of prosecco and water for the table. We had to clarify the prosecco order 3 times, pointing to it specifically on the menu. Following our order being taken a different waitress then came to clarify the prosecco order again, then proceeded to bring an incorrect bottle of sparkling rosé. We had to ask a further two times until we received out water.
For starters we had vegetable tempura and chicken satay. The vegetables were overcooked and were starting to go soft but they tasted fine. The satay sauce was tasty but the chicken was also overcooked and very dry. For mains we had a tofu red curry, a chicken pineapple curry and tofu pad thai. The tofu in both dishes was again overcooked and had that slightly gristley texture that comes with overcooking. The pineapple curry was absolutely delicious and the highlight of the meal, although I would warn that it was much spicier than I was expecting. Not a problem for me but it would be for those with a preference for milder dishes!
Following finishing our food we waited for our table to be cleared and after 15 minutes before growing impatient and just paying at the bar and leaving. Overall the food tasted good but was let down by the kitchen overcooking many items. The service was very poor from the outset, our drink order was incorrect, we had to ask multiple times for water and the table wasn't cleared for some time after we had finished. The bill came to £79 which I consider reasonable for the...
Read moreWe visited here last year & were very impressed with the quality. Being the only Thai in Keswick (bar 1) we checked trip advisor to notice many recent negative reviews, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt & go again.
Unfortunately we were v.disappointed with the quality of food this time. Me & my wife ordered alcoholic drinks & water. Drinks arrived quickly but the water never surfaced until we reminded them.
They gave us free prawn crackers whilst waiting, but unfortunately they were greasy..
We shared a chicken satay starter which tasted frozen, the satay sauce was watery, no visible peanuts & sorry to say the cabbage seemed off & appeared rather brown.
I ordered a golden curry & my wife ordered a green curry. My golden curry had lovely flavour but hardly any chicken & the potatoes tasted off (or old) and were not cooked properly. My wife's green curry had grey, dry chicken which put her off so much she removed it all, & on top of that her sticky rice was microwaved & overcooked so had no choice but to ask for a replacement to egg fried rice instead which she then got charged more for.
We were never asked how our meal was or tasted & weren't even asked if we wanted dessert or coffee!
It's such a shame as we had a really good experience before, but this time has put us off.
On the plus + Nice clean environment, exceptionally clean cutlery, beautiful handmade napkins &...
