Seen this place loads of times when walking around in Keswick, decided to nip in and have a climb while my partner had a shop around for an hour or two.
For starters the shop downstairs has loads of good bits in it, and even had some good deals on Moon climbing clothing when I went.
The climbing part is upstairs, although the front desk is situated next to the children’s play area (which was absolutely heaving when I went), so this can make for some loud shrieks while you’re waiting. Clearly very popular!
The gentleman at the front desk was super nice and friendly, and in the introduction checks even though one of my leg loops was tangled on my harness he could clearly tell I knew what I was doing. The kind of thing that makes you want to come back instead of them drilling you or being pedantic 👌🏼
The bouldering section is fairly small, with smaller type holds but very technical climbs, more like old school climbing! There was 4 autobelays from my count on the big walls and loads of lead/top ropes. Climbs were fun and good...

Wall has really gone from strength to strength. From confusing and questionable sets a few years ago, the current commercial set appears high quality and understandably focused on beginner and intermediate difficulty. For the obsessives there is a 24 moonboard, a great spray, and a digital 20ish° woody.
For me it is a perfect set up. Only slight negative was maintenence of moonboard with several loose holds, and the structure of kids clubs. Totally supportive of these, but the area is tiny, and with kids being barred from training apparatus there is no where near enough room to bring the whole group in, nor is bouldering a 'warm up'.
A bit of thought about the running of these and a bit of maintenance would be great, but on the whole this is an excellent example of how to maximise limited space and to genuinely cater to everyone from beginners to the elite.
Staff, vibe, facilities all 5*. With slightly better execution it...
Read moreKong Adventure discriminated against me because of my disability.
I was discriminated against by Kong Adventure on Friday 23rd April 2021 when I was refused entry to the shop as I’m unable to wear a face covering due to my disability.
I stated I was exempt from wearing a face covering and was asked to prove exemption which is illegal, after explaining to the very rude shop assistant I explained to him he was harassing me and discriminating against me and acting illegally. I then left the shop where I was welcomed in other shops in Keswick without any issues.
We seem to have gone backwards in the last 12 months, shops like this will soon be preventing blacks, gays, and Irish people from entering their establishments.
I will be pursuing a legal claim against Kong Adventure for discrimination as they are in breach of section 13 of the Equality Act 2010.
Disabled people have fought for years against discrimination like this and I would urge people to...
