Visited in August 2024. The pub has a very wide range of bottled beers and ciders and a smaller range on tap. Price for 2 bottles of J20, pint of Keswick Bitter, and a cider on tap came to £14.40. Food wise, we had 3 chilli dogs and a sharing portion of veggie chilli nachos. Thumbs up all round for taste and value. The pub isn't the biggest, but the owners have made a good job of fitting in as much seating as they can (downstairs and upstairs) without it feeling too cramped. Note that the toilets are upstairs. The music being played is loud enough to hear but not so loud to be intrusive, and it's clear the owners have good taste (good selection of rhythm and blues and soul). The only negative experience we encountered was that there was around a 10 minute delay between being served the first 2 meals and then the remaining 2 meals. However, what I can confirm is that if I lived in Keswick, then I'd likely make The Crafty Baa my local. Overall, it was...

I am a landlady in a neighbouring town and my staff had a very belated Christmas night out.... The blonde small bar maid served us all and then after serving us you lot will get no more drink tonight....none of my staff were drunk or misbehaving....then another customer accused my staff of knocking a drink all over her ...this did not happen....I went to see the female whom was rude and aggressive and far from soaked....I then spoke to the bar maid who said the girl had said excuse me twice I never once heard her saying this. The bar might be quirky but the beer was expensive although well kept and sadly there was no welcome from bar staff but pretty unfriendly.....I had been laughing so much I was crying and a dark haired bar staff member asked was I okay and why was I upset.....sorry but the pub was very rude and unfriendly to hospitality staff who were having a very late well earned Christmas night out....we...

We shared a cheese and meat board as a starter between 6 and it was really well portioned. I can see it definitely being enough for a couple to share as a main meal. Generally enjoyed it although found it odd that we got one tiny bit of brie but a lot of the smoked cheese so perhaps try to be a bit more balanced with the cheese selection? A few of our group got chilli nachos or a chilli dog. I personally didn't rate the chilli, it didn't seem particularly fresh, gave me defrosted vibes. Chorizo nachos were really good though. Good prices and portions and I'd most likely return if I was in the area. Table wasn't properly clean and I never like when you can see the years of food and grime between the wooden slats. Gives me nausea. Please do...

Tremendous bar this (best in Keswick by far), sister pub to the also brilliant Crafty Baa/Pie and Pint in Windermere, incredible selection of cask and keg ales, lager, cider and massive selection of bottles and cans from the beer fridges, staff tremendous as always and make you feel so welcome and want to stay longer, really doing a great job keeping everyone safe and distanced during the pandemic, this is a dog friendly pub too, interior brilliant and quirky, lovely cozy feel with the woodburner, a real nice treat to give yourselves after a long cold walk up a mountain or fell, really enjoyed our visit guys keep up the brilliant work, a must if you are in the area, top notch 🍻👍

The most funky place I have been. We went.to the Crafty Baa on a Friday evening. It was busy and alive. The staff was welcoming. We ordered a charcuterie board for two, it was excellent.

Quirky eclectic bar. Huge beer selection Staff were friendly enough but had no knowledge of the beer they were serving to the level that all bottles had a number sticker on that corresponded with the beer list on the wall. Very poor & a bit of staff beer training wouldn't be too much trouble. The nail in the coffin was the prices unbelievable - probably more expensive than any airport bar or city pub I've visited. Foe example, Belgian Gulden Draak was £11.50 a bottle - Lidl is selling the same for £12 for a box of 6 bottles. I'd recommend walking directly across the road to the Wetherspoon's where many of the same beers are sold much much cheaper.
