My recent visit to The Cove in Tenby was a mixed experience. While the atmosphere in the restaurant was fantastic, and the staff were brilliant, I must admit that the food left much to be desired.
I ordered the 20oz Rump steak, hoping for a succulent and flavorful cut. Unfortunately, what arrived on my plate was a very thin and overcooked piece of meat, which was quite disappointing. The steak lacked the tenderness and juiciness I had anticipated, and it felt overpriced for the quality.
Moreover, the sauce options for the steak were rather basic, not adding much excitement or flavor enhancement to the dish. I had hoped for more creative and delectable choices to complement the steak, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
On a positive note, the restaurant's ambiance was lovely, creating a warm and inviting setting for diners. The decor and setting added to the overall experience, making it a comfortable and enjoyable place to spend an evening.
The staff at The Cove truly shone during my visit. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that our dining needs were met. Their exceptional service was a definite highlight of the evening, and it made the experience more pleasant.
Another aspect worth mentioning is their excellent marketing efforts on social media. The restaurant's online presence was engaging, and it piqued my interest in visiting The Cove. Their efforts in promoting the establishment are commendable and definitely contribute to attracting customers.
In summary, while the atmosphere and the staff were top-notch, I couldn't overlook the disappointment with the food quality and pricing. The Cove in Tenby has the potential to be an outstanding dining destination with some improvements in their culinary offerings. I hope to see positive changes in the food department on...
Read moreThe lunch menu is displayed on the outside of the window - we intended to opt for the ciabatta meal with fries, at £8 this seemed very reasonable. Once in and with drinks ordered, we were told that this was not an option due to it being a Sunday? A little awkward to leave at this point. Instead we thought we'd make the most of it and ended up ordering meals for around double the price we had anticipated. We travelled to this restaurant with excellent expectations, we were sadly let down with the portions of fish, given most of the meal was batter(and overcooked). The rest of the meals were okay, the cove burger included a large amount of tasty beef. Although slightly on the pricey side. The salad was very heavily dressed with vinegar - nice for those that like it but over powering in general. The young waitress who took our order was lovely and most helpful as was the lady who agreed to refund both fish meals, she was clearly able to see that the fish was below par. For that we were grateful. The set up seemed to lack some professionalism in terms of the gentleman who worked there , who seemed more interested in playing with his phone than taking care of customers. His t shirt was stained on the back and he was continually wiping his nose with his hand. He gave the impression he was in charge but did little to show it, almost arrogant in his comment about the lunch menu being different on a Sunday. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks during the meal or if everything was okay. In broader terms the cove looks very stylish from the outside but the style was over substance. Not great value for money, better places to eat in Tenby. Fish here should be fresh and well cooked as standard. A bit of a let down but grateful for the 2...
Read moreLovely venue, with amazing drinks which we managed to experience in the afternoon.
We returned for an evening meal but it was a shame for the place to be let down by the staff who were happy just leaving you wait at the door (we were not the only ones) for unreasonable amounts of time before letting customers know there was no room available. I understand it can be busy, but everywhere else seems to have the initiative to place a sign on the front of the door to signify full capacity.
For the afternoon experience, the staff were clearly bored and are more interested in the inter-colleague conversations and their phones rather than serving their customers.
If service doesn't bother you, then this is a great place to chill out in the evening/afternoon for an evening meal and some drinks.
Apologies, but I can not justify more than 2 stars for shoddy staff attitude, it is the core principal to a good...
