The Monty is hands down the best Pub in EK. The Monty is everything a Pub should be. A gem of a Village focal point, the Monty has long been a village fixture, first opening in 1655 as a coaching inn. The stone landing where Coach passengers embarked and disembarked is still there, in their lovely beer garden.

Waking inside takes you back in time. The dark wood, stone floors and fireplace are accented by the whitewashed walls. I imagine that roaring fireplace would be "The Spot" for enjoying a libation on a winter day.

They have some great lagers AND ale taps to drink from. Their whisky selection is on point as well. The Staff is "Top Shelf" and know how to pull/pour a proper pint!

The Monty has it all, a friendly local that serves up some delicious pub grub, drinks and a world class staff that treats the customers right.

Go into to buy a soft drink in the middle of day with my 60+ year old parent, get asked for ID (I’m 28 years old, I haven’t been asked for ID in years!) and was humiliated quite unfairly in front of a lot of people. Guy wouldn’t even consider a pic of my passport - and let’s remember I wasn’t even trying to buy alcohol! I’ll add that the bartender said he had to do this legally, however, he is incorrect. Challenge 25 only applies to ordering of alcohol - which neither me nor the other person at my table did. So if your staff are going to quote the law and publicly humiliate someone, please make sure they’re accurate in what they are saying.

The Montgomery arms (the monty) is a proper pub. It is not a football pub even though football is shown. Its more a bookies pub. The staff are all very professional and all have a good relationship with the punters and bar prices are fair. It gets alot of tourists who are visiting east kilbride as it is the oldest pub in east kilbride and all tourists are asked to sign the book which is still to this day the original guest book since the pub first opened.
