I was extremely disappointed with the Tinto Tapas Restaurant in East Kilbride. We took my mother in law out for lunch on Mother’s Day hoping to have a nice Spanish meal. Me, being from Spanish descent, was excited to try flavours from my home country. Instead, none of the foods offered on the menu were Spanish. To say they were “Spanish-inspired” would have also been a stretch. I ordered mussels as the starter and pork loin as the main, with patatas bravas and roasted vegetables as my side. The mussels were noticeably not fresh, many having a white-ish colour and sticking to the shell. The garlic bread that came with the mussels was a thin slice of hard, toasted sliced white bread with some garlicky oil on it. They brought the mussels out about 10 minutes before the bread so our mussels had time to turn like warm….. lovely… The pork loin medallions were very thin and thus very very tough, the sauce was watery, and the mushrooms were cooked in that way that just makes them a bit slimy. The roasted vegetables were nice enough but cooked too long so they were all soft and mushy, no bite to them at all. The patatas bravas…. Well…. They were just chips, really. Just fried potatoes with salt as they did not have any sauce on they at all. When I tried to tell the waitress this as she brought the plates (thinking it had probably been a mistake) she just dismissed me saying there were more plates coming. Nope… our patatas bravas were never to be. The table beside us did get some potato chips with a puckish looking sauce on them which I can only assume was the “salsa brava”….. never have I seen salsa brava looking like that. The sangria we ordered was basically fruit juice. They didn’t even bother putting in the nice bits of fruit… just orange rind. What a disgrace. None of us went for dessert… not even a coffee. We were all just dying to get out of there. It was such a horrible experience, and really put a damper on Mother’s Day. Tinto Tapas Restaurant in East Kilbride is not only somewhere that I will never visits again, but I will also actively dissuade anyone who will listen from going to that unprofessional and overly...
Read moreDined many times and will return but last visit on valentines night was a bit of a let down. Booked for 8.15pm but didn't leave till around 10.40pm due to rather slow service. Took a while for initial drinks order but it was full and we were chatting so no big deal. Food order taken and we asked for the pan de sabores mixtos and pan catalan. Both ordered medium steaks and partner got a side of veg and I asked for the patatas bravas to come at same time as mains. Also advised of a egg and nut allergy and wanted to check if the chimichurri was safe to have with steak, said would check and let us know. We must have sat for a good 40 minutes with nothing, new tables coming in and getting food before our bread starters. Flagged the girl down to ask about the bread and sauce query was told the sauce was fine to have and order would be out shortly and it appeared that everything had been put through to come out together, so little bit of confusion but fine. Then the food came and the mixed bread was 3 plain bits of pan bread on a small plate not what we expected as described as basket of mixed flavours of bread, but we had waited this long and enjoyed the oil and balsamic vinegar. The catalan we ordered appeared to be the option below this on the menu as no tomatoes and serrano ham but given we're about an hour after ordering we just kept quiet. Steak was nice but more well done than medium and both ended up with pepper sauce. But overall we did enjoy the food just wasn't exactly what we ordered. Then we had dessert which was lovely but again did take a little longer than you would expect, especially since the tables had started to clear out and no new tables coming in, given the time. We had a bit of time to wait until we could get a hold of someone for the bill as staff congreagated in the bar area. 40 minutes to get dessert and bill and half empty at this point. So not the best experience we have had but not bad enough to put us off returning, we'll just stick to the slightly earlier dining time we...
Read moreHad valentine's dinner with my partner was great food and service (upstairs) it's become a valentine's traditional now as it's 3rd year in a row we've been. The reason why it's not 5 stars is because of the women downstairs in the pub with glasses on working at the bar who wasn't very nice to me when I bought a pint of Madri after having my first choice turned down which was peroni. I noticed then it had a pint class over the top of the pump after the woman with glasses said I couldn't get it, so was ok with the second choice which was Madri as a like Madri but once I went over to the table I was sitting at and tasted the pint it was no Madri sure didn't taste like it or nice at all even my partner tasted and said the same. So went back up to bar told women with glasses on that I wasn't happy with pint and she started being cheeky towards me and saying ave been in here drinking it all night which wasn't true as I had just walked into the place so a was abit confused an upset with that response from her so after abit of not nice words from her and muttering under her breath she got me another pint which was much better when that's all she had to do in the first place as it served no benefit to either of us her being like that towards me in the...
