Mostly quite friendly staff, security guy especially polite which is always a refreshing change, but let's say 50/50 as far as the clientele, all a bit too young & excitable. Their toilets were a bit grim on a Saturday night, & the downstairs bar is a better bet than upstairs if you like some degree of Covid safety. Absolutely zero air flow or fans upstairs in the 'speakeasy' which rapidly became a shouteasy, and was like a sauna. Perfect way to transmit covid, no masks on any customer at any time, only about half the staff, no social distancing, didn't really see any attempts at safety at all. One to avoid if you're trying to remain vigilant during this pandemic, like most bars in Brighton & Hove, there's not even the smallest sign of caring about those at risk now in mid August, a month after 'freedom day' when we were urged to remain cautious. But then, that's clearly also central government policy, so you can't really blame a city centre venue for their behaviour when it's obvious the tories want us back to work, paying taxes, and are happy to be losing the weakest and poorest in order to achieve herd immunity through an increase in widespread transmission. Well... That all got quite dark, quite quickly, where the hell did that all...
Read moreStaff has no sense for humour and individuality and is really rude. We were a group of 7 people came after a gig to have a pint and got kicked out because we had an empty glass from another pub and one of us asked as a joke if they can just fill it up. The waitress refused to serve that person and ask us if we want to stay or leave with him. We obviously said we are leaving with him but some of us already had drinks so we helped to finish the drinks, also the person who hasnt got served and that was reason enough to kick us all out. None of us was unfriendly or badly drunk we all had a fun and good night but that doesn't seemed to be the case for the waitress. After we got kicked out and were outside the pub to communicate where we want to go next she really called the police! That was my first and only experience. I can't...
Read moreWe went to your pub because were invited by a friend of ours for their birthday. Some of his guest showed up with a bottle of wine (not us!) and you asked them to leave. Which is probably fair, but then you decided to kick us all out, with out even telling us, even though we hadn't done anything wrong. My husband went out for a cigarette and that's when we found out we were kicked out too, because you wouldn't let him back in. You wouldn't even let him back in to tell me that you'd kicked us out, and because I didn't have my phone we spent a long time having to find each other after. This is just ridiculous. I get you want people to follow rules but why were we just guity by association? Also you could have spoken to us and not just decided not to alternately let us back in. it's not hard. very poor...
