We visited on a Monday lunchtime and there was plenty of room, we chose a round table in the window. Very friendly waiting staff, drinks arrived quickly and food took about 20 minutes but boy aas it worth the wait. Two of our three had the locally sourced Newlyn cod and chips, we agreed it was extremely good, in my case top three for all the fish and chips I've ever had, very tasty, flaky, moist white flesh, very fresh obviously, with lovely firm garden peas and double cooked chunky chips, a slice of lemon. The third member of our party had the halloumi burger and was equally impressed, a good amount of halloumi plus other veg in the burger bun itself. Not sure if it relates to Waves itself but there was a For Sale board above the frontage, hopefully not this excellent establishment. We'll definitely be back when we're here in Penzance again.

Stopped at Waves Cafe for a quick lunch. Food was pretty decent. Recommend the chicken fillet burger. There was quite a long wait but mainly due to current Covid-19 circumstances.

Fantastic place. Couldn't ask for better. Wonderful fresh fish, scampi and cramp. All perfectly cooked. The crab sandwich was just the best! Friendly lads serving too

I visited Waves cafe recently, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit was the absolute opposite! If I could leave a zero stars review I would.

Upon entering, we were met with an uncomfortable atmosphere, as the only customers in the cafe. To our disappointment, the menu's fish-based meals were unavailable, and when I requested a smaller portion size from the children’s menu (due to my recovery from stomach surgery) the owner himself approached our table and proceeded to chastise me, refusing to accommodate my request and displaying a confrontational attitude.

It's worth noting that I had offered to pay full price for a smaller portion, effectively requesting to pay an adult portion price for a child’s portion. Despite this, I was accused of trying to “bankrupt” the owner, which was both unwarranted and disheartening.

When leaving, and still listening to his continued chastisement, I mentioned to the owner that this behaviour might be a reason why his cafe was empty, to which he replied that it was just because there are “no customers around”. However, we soon discovered several busy places on Causeway Head as we left, eventually finding a lovely lunch spot with a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere.

I had heard other people warn me about difficult experiences at Waves cafe, but I didn’t think that the rumours could be entirely accurate. Unfortunately, they were more than correct! Avoid if you’re looking for high quality personable customer service, you won’t...

Never compelled to write a review before. Bad experience here today. Restaurant floor manager rude to two of our party of three after we enquired politely about one of our plates not arriving for more than five minutes after the others had been served. For doing so we were accused of impatience in an indiscreet and somewhat aggressive manner witnessed by other customers.

He did not take responsibility for our 2nd scampi and chips having been recorded by the waitress but not cooked on time, when questioned about this digressing into wide-ranging rants (including a prejudiced assertion about where we came from). He told us in an accusatory manner that 'our order had been changed' when we, the paying customers did not make such a change, and once on the defensive about this, demonised one of us merely for looking ('staring') into the restaurant from just outside where we were sitting.

We did nothing wrong and our considerate and polite enquiries and complaint were met with persistent interruptions and stubborn defiance. In the end the late scampi and chips was subtracted from our bill with the very opposite of good grace—pointedly sarcastic remarks being made to other customers as we left the restaurant. Whilst we can accept human errors being made and acknowledged with humility, the rude, ignorant and unprofessional conduct of the restaurant floor manager made this an upsetting experience and spoiled the atmosphere of a...

My disabled daughter's favourite place because of the music...it's on the expensive side anyway but unfortunately their greed lost us, as customers, today. I can no longer eat bread so I asked the manager to replace the bread of a BLT with a few chips and no dressing. The salad arrived covered in olive oil which I dislike but I didn't complain. I went to pay the bill which seemed rather high, only to be told by the assistant that I had a side portion of chips and it's nothing to do with them whether I have bread or not - chips are extra. It wasn't even a full portion. I stated I'd asked for them INSTEAD of the bread but no....I was charged for both. At no point had the manager, who took my order, advised I would be charged for both. I was absolutely disgusted but rather than cause a scene left the café. I was charged for bread that I simply did not have. We will not be going there again. Really disappointed in their lack of flexibility, something I have never experienced in a café before - I have always previously found staff really do put their customer first. It wasn't as if I was asking them to make me something not on the menu - a couple of rashers of bacon on a very bland oily salad (iceberg and tomato), a small portion of chips cost a...
