Albatross — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Not very impressed with this restaurant at all. They had written my name down incorrectly so at first they didn't think I had booked at all despite me spelling my name at time of booking over the phone.

We were taken to our table which they had decorated with a birthday banner and table confetti but only 3 party poppers were there when there were 4 of us.

We were sat at a round table of 6 when there was only 4 of us which meant we were awkwardly spaced out.

The starter was nice albeit small. It took an age for the waitress to clear our starter plates. Then when she brought extra drinks over she didn't take the empty glasses and bottle away. I had to call her back to clear it but then she didn't take the empty bottle only the glasses.

The 9" pizzas arrived but they were so thick on the base and the crust and just tasted like cheap takeaway pizzas. The edible part was probably a 7".

Again took an age to get the plates cleared away but the bill arrived farely swiftly thank goodness. Although they didn't take card as their machine had broken so my husband had to walk to the cash point.

The music was shrilling opera and a tennor singer which was absolutely awful. I couldn't bear it any longer.

The venue looked very run down with cheap wallpaper trying to look trendy. The manager wore a white t shirt and trainers. Not very professional looking at all.

I am so surprised this restaurant had good reviews as I would never recommend anyone to go here. I think the owners are trying to punch above their weight and is nothing like a professional...

I am the type of person that will complain about the slightest thing. This is the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. I had Pizza which was the best I have ever had, even though I used to have it up to 5 times a week. My partner is a vegetarian which had the canelloni and you could tell all the ingredients were fresh. Anyone in Yarmouth should consider coming here as the food is the best. We are from the city so have a lot of choice but if this was in the city I would choose this every single time. They are understaffed I do admit but the size of the company deserves a lot of gratitude. The owner is a very nice person and what they do lack for they make up for in personality. This Restaurant says it's italian and served tipical italian food .Well in first i need to say that the staff was very good but the food was terrible i am real Italian and I didn't eat the food that was how bad it was I payd and we left the spaghetti were full of water and hardly any tomato sauce, and the spaghetti were over cooked, then whe had the cannelloni with spinach, there was so much garlic that you could kill a fly at 10 foot from you, they had only 1 jug of water for the hole Restaurant. And the cannelloni ware not cooked. I really don't know how he says that it's Italian but to me he be better to close the Restaurant and go to be trained in Italy to cook and then maybe reopen the Restaurant.
