Gilfreds Restaurant — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

We came here when I was on holiday with my parents recently. I was sceptical at first since I didn’t see online any reviews which mentioned vegetarian options, but due to how positive the reviews were I thought I’d give it a go! And we’re so glad we did!

I was given a vegetarian lentil cottage pie, I could help myself to some veg and I had a Yorkshire pudding, and my parents had the meat carvery. We were all so impressed and we really enjoyed our meal. My dad had a sticky toffee pudding and he enjoyed that also.

The staff clearly know their regulars as they remembered what drinks they liked and would have some ready for their arrival. They are super friendly as well.

I’d recommend booking in advance, I booked the day before and they had limited slots left. One group which didn’t have a booking had to be turned away because they were fully booked.

Food was ok nothing exceptional. However one member of staff was the rudest person I have ever met. Shouting at a member of our party for accidentally touching the hot plate. His attitude was completely disgusting(the man serving the carvery). It was like he was annoyed that people were even in there. Revolting human being. I would never step foot in this place ever again even if I was starving hungry and this was the only place open. If I could give it zero...

The waiting staff were very helpful. With that said got the drinks wrong very warm and flat cans of lemonade. Food OK.. Just carvery chef rude and offencive to the extent of us eat her walking out or I flatten him. Spoilt the entire day.
