Meat the Greek — Restaurant in Guildford

It used to be a great place to eat. Through time I've noticed a considerable drop in quality and portions whilst prices went up.

If you order at home, the food is not even near to what you will get at the restaurant. I once ordered the Greek salad at home and half of it was onions.

It was good to see that they upgraded to a much bigger space these days, but hopefully they consider to make the food what it used to be a while ago when they read my review.

I would give a few more stars, as I had previously rated them with 5, but the owner spoke with attitude when we light a ciggarete sitting outside in the old restaurant, whilst we were regular customers and without any signance disallowing it which we would have respected.

I recently heard that they spoke bad and made a scene to another friend of mine for saying the the fries were cold and the owner made a scene to a pregnant woman for having said that.

I prefer to make homemade wraps at home due to the above and wait for the next trip to Greece for proper Greek food.

Next time book a trip to Greece, it will cost less and the food...

We really love this place — the food is usually great, and we keep coming back for the chicken pita gyros, which is one of our favorites. However, we’ve noticed an issue that we hope can be improved.

A few times when we ordered the chicken gyros, instead of the usual delicious shredded meat from the spit, we’ve received fatty chicken cubes instead. It’s quite disappointing because the texture and taste are completely different — and unfortunately not what we enjoy.

What makes it more frustrating is that we weren’t informed ahead of time that they had run out of the proper chicken. If we had known, we could have chosen something else or waited until it was available again — instead of paying for something we didn’t want and ultimately throwing it away.

We’re sharing this because we really like the place, and better communication in situations like this would make a big difference. We’ll definitely be back — just hoping for a bit more consistency and a heads-up when...
