Food was nice, however service was rubbish. We booked a table for 7.30 in the restaurant, and I agreed to be moved to the 'cushion area' at 9pm to fit in with their seating slots. We rang to say we'd be slightly late, and they couldn't find the booking. They said fine but you need to be out by 9pm, which we agreed was okay, and because of the language barrier I thought I would discuss the 'cushion' area upon arrival. Upon arriving, they advised they are fully booked in the other area... The whole meal was rushed and they were quite rude throughout. They attenpted to take our plates when we were still eating. The mains were rushed out to us when we were still on our starters.Everything seemed like it was too much trouble, to the extent that I wished I didn't bother visiting in the first place. I acknowledge that we were on a time frame, however it was the way they went about it and the lack of customer service. We were still paying customers and it just seemed a shame our experience was so bad, as if heard such nice...
Read moreThis place has been a family favourite of ours over the last 10 years, but i thought i would leave a review as visited on Friday and the food was better than ever and they have made all the required COVID preparations so felt completely comfortable dining there
There are now significantly less tables, Hand Sanitiser station on the way in, all the staff are wearing Masks/Visors as well as gloves so they have all the bases covered.
We always go for the mixed starters for the table, you get a little taste of everything and is the perfect amount not leaving you too stuffed for your delicious mains.
I had a duck curry and their Pineapple fried rice which is a great combo, Their special Pud Thai with tamarind is also great, they do a BBQ Chicken dish which is also unreal and you have to try the spicy papaya salad (Som Tam)
Will be back...
Read moreRumwong is a very good quality thai restaurant. The service both eating in and taking away is exceptional. There is a Lovely sitting area for eating in; there is both normal seating at tables at the front of the restaurant and seating on visions on the floor at the back for a more authentic experience. It has been my favourite thai restaurant since arriving in England six years ago and its quality has never dropped below fantastic. It is a local treasure for a Friday night family dinner after a long week's work. I would highly recommend it to anyone living in the guildford area. I would particularly recommend the beef with broccoli and the chicken and cashew nut dish. Their pad thai is exceptional and a family favourite. I recently tried a red curry and was...
