The Long Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Guildford

Mixed feelings about our experience. Firstly, we found it incredibly hard to make a reservation, we rang constantly for 3 days with no answer, so def book online if you can. After we spoke to the hotel we got a call back, and staff were accommodating to fit us in last minute (with a large table of 12). That did set the theme for this place and something that couldn't be faulted was the service! Greeted with a smile, all staff were very attentive and accommodating and they couldn't do enough...scored 100%! The food was the biggest disappointment, I had the burger and it was bland and watery sauce, the same with casear salad, okay but again a bit watery and tasteless, others on our table had the chicken which was really good, and the ribeye steak which was requested as medium rare but came blue (which was fine for the diner) . Being a bougie bar it's full of overpriced cocktails and drinks which were also acceptable! The price point sits around £25/£30 for a main dish and whilst everything was OK, it was exactly that, pretty average at a higher price point than other offerings in the area! To balance this i am going to say we were medium sized table of 12 that were booked in last minute and tables of 6 plus are usually advised to pre order and maybe that impacted some of the quality...

We went to the long bar last night for New Year’s Eve. Can honestly say it was the worse New Years we have ever had. No atmosphere at all, the dj was shocking and made no effort to even get everyone ready for New Years. There was no count down or big announcement like other bars normally do. Simply 1 anouncent that it was a minute to New Years then a quiet happy new year as it struck 12. Clearly missed by everyone as no one even knew it was 12. The music didn’t cut/get louder or even change it was like New Years didn’t happen at all. We had a table and ordered a lot of drinks packages, had it not been to late to find an alternative venue (everywhere being busy because of New Years)we would definitely not stayed we ended up leaving at 1.30 and going for an early night because we were simply bored and the bar had pretty much become deserted. Booked to see a show at G Live Guilford. Prebooked a table online for 5.30pm (earliest option) Restaurant is in The Harbour Hotel next to G Live and has it's own entance. All the staff were pleasant, and our waitress, Hannah, was clearly not only good at her job but showed a genuine interest in our day and evening, making sure all our needs were met. The food was excellent with the only disappointment being that the mixed greens in butter side dish was just cabbage and broccoli. I was expecting maybe mange tout or green beans as well.
