The Grill at the Mandolay — Restaurant in Guildford

The food here is very much a six star award. Service exemplary. I gave 4 stars for atmosphere because, sadly, we were the only people in the dining area on a Friday night. I guess all other diners were savouring the heady delights of a Big Mac! They don't know what they are missing. Service was rather distracted by a function going on down stairs. Stood for ages to get seated into an empty restaurant, waitress walked past us twice before acknowledging we were there. Once seated the drinks order (2 drinks) was taken yet only 1 turned up. Food order went better. Food was hot and to our adaptations.

Recommendation to the management - don't leave junior staff to cover off the main restaurant because you have a function on downstairs

Just a lovely place for dinner. I had the most delicious venison carpaccio as a starter and sirloin steak with chanterelle mushrooms as the main from the two course dinner menu for under £30.
