Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Hastings

I don't know what's going on with this Costa. This relatively new outlet used to have friendly, efficient staff and used to be open until the advertised times.

But it seems not only to have had a total change of staff but they now regularly close at any time which takes their fancy. At least 4 times now we have arrived well before closing time to find them closed both on weekdays and weekends.

Today the advertised time was 6pm. We entered at 3.55pm to be advised would be closing in 5 minutes. Grumpy manager gave his male member of staff a public lecture when he served us our hot food on plates rather than in take away bags.

So we had to gulp down our food in minutes and then take the coffee out. When you intend to dine in and you are present 2 hours before the advertised closing time this is dreadful.

There is no explanation on the building to explain why this particular store has become so utterly unreliable.

It is on a main road into Hastings and they are closing at a time which avoids all rush hour custom and even prevents parents who've collected children from school grabbing a coffee. It is absolutely absurd.

If this is how this Costa is going to operate permanently it may as well totally close down because it is a completely unacceptable...

No water in dog bowl.. girl overfilled it so I split water putting it down as only had one hand as holding the dog .. whilst the dog was drinking and before I could tell the staff a man came over maybe a manager.. male in his fifties He put his hands up and said what have you done? Why is there water ? He was annoyed I explained that the bowl was overfilled he went off had a go at the girl in front of everyone she explained it wasn’t her fault as she hadn’t put the bowl on the floor . He then came over with a mop huffing and puffing as he cleared it up whilst giving me daggers. I feel he wouldn’t have spoke to a man like that he was so rude it really upset me as accidents happen . I work in customer service and I would never speak to anyone like that .. disappointed would not recommend this...

We had been going here fairly regularly, as it was quite a pleasant place to sit and relax. Service is fine, swift and efficient (personally, I don't really want staff to interact with me, I just want them to provide a decent coffee!). But the last couple of times we went it was uncomfortably hot in there. We didn't stay on the most recent visit, the heat was unbearable. We'll keep trying, and will use it again when they get the air conditioning working properly (although just opening the doors would help). The only other problem is the ninety minutes limit on the car park. After a relaxing coffee and conversation, there isn't time to do shopping in Aldi, so we go on to Tesco. Their...
