The Catch — Restaurant in Hastings

Was staying locally at Combe Haven over Easter so a busy time. This place was recommended from other holiday makers as being a superb establishment. We joined the queue outside I thought to myself this being a sure sign that this place is the dogs nuts. Upon entering the restaurant I was struck firstly of cleanliness and the man who is the proprietor is well organised, gives the directions to his assistants no messing type of of individual. Again another positive for me. He ensures the orders are taken in order and he is quick as can be with goods. We had a selection of fish, meats and chips and honestly the quality was the best I have ever eaten locally in the Hastings area. I eat a lot locally and this restaurant for me is up next to Maggies of Hastings as being the best chippy there is. High praise indeed.

Have used this fish and chip shop quite a few times now and every time the food was cooked fresh while I waited, tasted fresh and was better than some of my more local fish and chip shops. The food itself (we have tried the fish, pies, sausages, pineapple fritters, spam fritters savaloys and chips) have all been very tasty which is why we drive past about 5 other closer fish and chip shops to return to where we know we will get great food at good prices, with portions beyond our expectations. Dealing with a company who looks after their staff is important to me and this outlet ticks every box on that score. The staff are friendly and very polite and looked after by their boss who treats them well. I wish they would expand the business and get an outlet nearer to my home with the same high standards that we enjoy in...

The food is good quality and the fish served is huge! Must have been the best catch of the day :).

Jokes aside, I cued for long time because a large group of people pre-ordered before me, only to find out that even the group that joined after me had pre-ordered so I was told to wait to be served after all pre-ordered customers are done.

However, and big However, the guy packing up the orders did accommodate my order, albeit not the way I asked, but I was served after all. Abdul was great to offer to prepare more fish to accommodate my order.

In future, would be good if there are large pre-orders, others in the cue to be told so we know what to expect. Communication with customers is very important, as important as the taste and quality of the food.
