Was going to The Bull Inn for a meal before going to White rock to see a show they were fully booked . My daughter asked if we could have an Indian meal so I looked at local Indian restaurants near to me. I started to read the reviews and my thoughts were " every 1 says this place is amazing" So I called up to see if they could accommodate my daughter's nut allergy, the nan I spoke to was very reassuring he told me that he would " make sure that the kitchen staff were awear" So we went I love Indian food I love taste and flavour but nothing that's going to burn my mouth and then give me heart burn fur hours and bahe me feel unwell especially as I was going out to the theatre. I have my favourite chicken tikka masala,Pilar rice ,Bombay aloo, and nan. My daughter had Khakai Pilar rice sag aloo. As soon as i said my daughter has a nut allergy the man in the white shirt said " yes it was me you spoke to yesterday ,I was playing cricket and got knocked out early that why ism here" as he had told me he wouldn't be there on the Saturday evening . I meal arrived after a reasonable amount of time ( I didn't want it to arrive to fast, to me that's not cooked from fresh) We were at the time just us and another 2 people. The other 2 waiters came over frequently to ask" if everything was ok and did we need anything else" The delivery drivers were loud out side but this didn't bother us and it was far to hot to shut the door. My food was amazing and it's my 2nd best that I have ever had. The only grip Is my Bombay potatoes were a little under cooked but not enough to make me want to complain, as they tasted delicious. My rice was cook as it should be, firm but fluffy . My curry was amazing, chicken was cooked to perfection, the sauce was just perfect, not to sweet ,with gentle spices as it should be. ( When ever I go to an Indian that I have never had food before I always have the very same food. So I can get a good comparison) This didn't left me down. The reviews were all correct the food here is great full of flavour, the staff are friendly but not pushy ( the 1 thing I didn't like was 1 of the waiters stood at the bar and had a very big long yawn and made no attempt to put his hand over his mouth) . Overall this restaurant is now my new favourite locally, I have told my 4 adult children about it ( even though 1 of lives in New Zealand and is unlickly to visit it),I have told my friends about it, I have told my neighbour about it. I have told my south London friends about it. I will 100% be visiting here again very soon ( next week in fact). Thankyou to all of you, especially the staff you don't see, for a fabulous meal, yo what turned out to be a great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a small restaurant set at the side of a main road. Parking is tricky, so it can take a while to find somewhere to leave your car. The staff were very friendly, but unfortunately the food didn't meet our expectations. Since we did not know the area or the restaurant, we went by the reviews online - which were mainly positive. First of all, the chicken korma should have been a rich, creamy dish, but instead, it was weak, watery and over sweet with no taste at all - just yellow sugary sauce. The tikka masala was an unatural, bright, blood red colour with absolutely no hint of any Indian spice whatsoever. It was just another sugary sweet sauce (a red one this time!) with pieces of chicken inside. The pilau rice was lovely, but the portions were incredibly small! Definitely not enough to go with a dish consisting of sauce. We were very surprised when the waiter put down the tiny bowls of rice! The nan breads were fine, but not the nice, thin, crispy tandoori nans we usually have in other restaurants - these were thicker and more bread like in texture. We were also very surprised to see we were charged separately for the little dips that should have accompanied the poppadoms. When the waiter asked if we'd like poppadoms, we said yes - expecting two poppadoms and perhaps a little dish of chutney with them. At no point did the waiter ask if we would like dips too - which he should have done, since he was going to charge extra for them! You can't just bring something to a customer that wasn't requested and charge for it!) So overall, I'm afraid we really wouldn't recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNormally I am not someone who writes review, however this experience had to be escalated as this is the first time I have felt so disrespected in a restaurant. My husband, me along with my son visited hastings from London on Sunday the 10th Aug and had come across this place so thought would give it a try. As soon as we entered a man with white shirt attended us, very rude, misguided on few things when asked, not interested in suggesting, not sure what he thought of us. I am a very strong observant and saw that he went to other tables and spoke politely and gently. Initially we thought he could be the owner and hence such attitude, however I overheard someone saying thats not the owner, eventually the owner came up to us who was very polite and hospitable. However I could not get the reason why the other gentleman, (not sure if manager) behaved the way he did. Thats not all there were few drops of daal on the table linen, while we were seated on the table this gentleman pulled the table cloth making us move our belongings from the table, my husband infact asked kindly that āyou could do this after we leaveā he very rudely said, āno, we have to do this now as this is dirtyā well, if this is the hospitality you provide to your tourist, then I am quite shocked. Me and my husband keep trying new places now and then even in europe or abroad we never came accross such...
