Old Town Fryer — Restaurant in Hastings

Top notch nosh on Father's Day, fish and chips, sausage and chips and saveloy with chips. Served on white fish shaped plates. The staff were really busy so serving up a sausage instead of the saveloy was forgivable and rectified quickly. The missing fish and chips took so long to get that most of us were almost finished our meals before it eventually arrived. It doesn't take almost twenty minutes to correct a major screw up usually, but as long as people know that some of the staff were young and could not read each others writing, and possibly only there for their wages and no interest in customer care then they can avoid busy days like we intend to do in future. 2 mistakes out of 6 meals would usually deserve the wrath of my poisonous pen, however, on previous less busy days when youngsters are not working this business has been great. So with this in mind and not wanting to crucify one of the good fish and chip shops I had to bear in mind that even I can get things wrong (honestly). As we left a larger family quickly took our table as all other tables were full. I visited here with my family as we’ve come once before and was pleased the first time however will not be returning. I have never been so disrespected in a restaurant. As a customer I have a right to voice my concerns/opinion at the end of the day we are paying customers so are entitled to this. All I wanted to do was voice my concern about the situation regarding the size of the fish as we made a big order, I didn’t want a refund nor did I want another fish I just didn’t like how I was spoken to when I voiced my opinion in a respectful manor. They will not allow you to have a voice in this restaurant they do not take productive criticism on board at all and start shouting at the customers and make you feel very uncomfortable. In fact one of the workers came across aggressive and started to mimic me and throw his hands around , then clapping his hands being very patronizing. Communication goes a long way. A Proper Chippy with a Friendly Vibe This little fish and chip shop is a real gem! We recently visited and were thoroughly impressed. The fish was absolutely divine – perfectly cooked, crispy batter, and incredibly fresh. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients. The chips were also top-notch, golden and fluffy on the inside. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and inviting. It had a classic "chippy" feel with a modern touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. They were especially attentive to our children, ensuring they were comfortable and happy. We loved the fact that the restaurant was clearly family-friendly. There was plenty of space for the kids to move around, and the staff were very accommodating to their needs.
