I remember watching Kenny on Masterchef and my expectations were pretty high for my first visit. Especially as we already have the excellent HMHB in Hastings. The 'restauran't is basic and devoid of any kind of character it suggests little in way of back story, passionate idea behind creating an experience or the best burger in town and more about making a return on little outlay but I was here to eat...I ordered the tater totts and vegan burger with black truffle. Both items were severed individually in a plastic basket. As I ate outside this unfortunately meant everything went cold pretty quickly as the wind blew through the basket,. The tater totts looked pretty generous portion wise. I'd never had them before so I was looking forward to trying them. They basically tasted of undercooked hash browns. The amount of SALT on them should be illegal. I didn't finish them. I was unable to finish them. Imagine serving that amount of SALT to a kid?! I mean I like SALT but these were inedible. I left 2/3'rds of the portion. The burger was equally disappointing. The amount of truffle totally overwhelming any other flavour. Truffle is a strong strong flavour, there was no subtle usage. I gave up trying to finish the burger. in fact the last mouthful I had to spit into a napkin, it was making me feel unwell. So £22 for a meal (burger/totts/soft drink) that was pretty unpalatable and left me hungry. I won't be going back. I was disappointed to have to leave less than glowing feedback but I don't eat out often and £22 for a mediocre burger meal is not on these days. *the Fanta was...
Read moreWent on Saturday night, the restaurant was empty. We ordered food at the counter, the beer on tap wasn’t working so we were told we could bring in drinks from the pub next door which was a nice touch. Daughter and son in law joined us and ordered using the QR code, their food came before ours but their drinks didn’t. Daughter and son in law had nearly finished their meal and we still hadn’t had ours. We asked and were told it was being done. The waiting continued :( the waiter who took out order came and asked us if we had ordered food, we told him our order again . I then saw a meal being put under a heat lamp, it was our meal, which was now cold and the waiter was trying to resurrect it. The meal was bought to our table, the waiter apologised for the delay. Unfortunately the burger was cold and we sent it back. When we finally got our food it was good but not brilliant. The service was the main issue, total lack of organisation, friendly staff but it wasn’t busy so dread to think how they would...
Read moreI really don’t understand why there is hype over this place, maybe just because it’s new. The burgers were completely unoriginal - exactly the same as you’d find in any kebab shop in town. No interesting or unusual toppings. The QR code on the table didn’t work, so had to queue at counter. There’s only one beer on offer - and the pump wasn’t working properly so we were charged full price yet only got about 3/4 of a pint, the rest being froth. They forgot to deliver the drinks too, so had to queue again to get them. When food was brought over sauces (which you have to pay extra for) we’re missing. Had to queue yet again. For three of us it cost about £60 for what was basically McDonalds quality food and service - and frothy beer. I suspect their intention is to put the massive mark up because of location as the food and service no way justify anything beyond kebab shop level. In honesty this was a really bad experience regardless...
