A'bout Thyme Coffee Lounge serving the best coffee and tea in Glossop — Restaurant in High Peak

Giving 1 star as I can't give zero stars!!! We called in for a quick brew before an appointment we had elsewhere in Glossop. We ordered a latte and a tea and it took half an hour to arrive. If we hadn't already paid we would of left. My wife went to sit at a table only to be told there was someone already sitting there by a member of staff. In all the time we were there ( about 45 minutes) no one sat in that seat. The staff all four of the front of house, said they were busy catching up with orders and yet stood together talking? The table we sat at still had the plates and other cutlery from the previous customers and it stayed that way till after we left. The Latte was ok and the tea was at best below average. They apologised for the lack of saucer for the tea and brought no milk or sugar, just glad we didn't order food. There were various other people we're asking about the estimated arrival time of their food/drinks so we weren't the only ones. So all in all quite possibly the worst visit we've had to a cafe in a very long time. Needless to say we won't be returning, which is sad as we do like to support...

I could not carbon14 date cake. Means only one... It was fresh! And if you see my previous reviews for other places this was basically my luck being served old bad in taste cakes.

But not here! And then there's that zing you can feel walking in. Oh and I loved chairs outside. Would say pillows could be good idea but you would slide off. But they are nice to look at.

And the plate I had my cake served that was nice too. It's not boring Ikea plate but something else. Something that shows they put some though into it.

Cake did not have too much flour in it means it was bit crumble but it only means you need to use fork in rather creative way.

And cappuccino was good too. Of anything.. I would leave option to customer should he / she have a chocolate on top of it or not. But you know what? I'm picking up on minor details here because time I have spent there enjoying cake and coffee sitting outside... I liked it. It let me relax, focus on book, enjoy time.

And you cannot put price...

Me and my mum came in for lunch today. The food was good but the service was absolutely terrible. I ordered the vegan breakfast with extra beans and it came without tofu or vegan black pudding. I asked the waitress if there was a mistake and she came back and said they were out of tofu and black pudding. I have never received food before where two of the main items were missing and I cannot believe I was not told in advance. After an awkward silence she asked if I would like to swap them out for something else so I said a couple of sausages and hash browns would be good. They brought one sausage and one hash brown and had the cheek to charge me full price plus 95p for the extra beans! No apology or attempt to make the situation better. I was just asked 'was everything okay except the missing items on the breakfast'? I still cannot believe a cafe would bring out half a meal and expect full payment! Absolutely appalling! Would not recommend. Will not be...
