Found this delightful spot on Google maps as I was coming to see a show round the corner at Gallery Players.
What an INCREDIBLE find!
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and the food (we had the salmon special - and I’m still talking about it today).
This is FAR more than a quaint neighborhood pub (which of course love) - but this is a rustic, warm, welcoming spot where you have a wiz in the kitchen that tosses in their own brand of delicious gourmet and you come away thinking about your meal the entire train ride back to London and planning your next visit and hoping what you had this trip is on the menu then…because its SO good you would get on a train for 90 minutes each way to have it again.
Might also travel out for a proper Sunday Roast as the server said they are fantastic- and I can only...
Read moreIt's a lovely pub with a nice look and feel. Decent beers and all types of drinks served. I would recommend booking a table if there are a few of you (we were a group of 6) but they usually have space to fit small groups or couples in, although this is a popular place so book if possible. The food is very well prepared and of good quality. Generally, mains on the printed menu are burgers or variants of chips , but many variations. They have a specials menu with choices like ham, egg, and chips. Also they have small dishes which can be combined for a very nice main such as scotched egg, calamari etc. The prices are good in my opinion, and the quality of the food served is well worth the money. As a recommendation, I'd suggest having a crack (Sorry 🙄) at the scotched egg! I'll...
Read moreVisited The Arbor House after googling for "sunday roast". This came high up the list of recommendations - I can see why. Firstly went there for drinks after the football - good selection of lagers and beers (not your usual stuff). Wine was priced well. Didn't eat the Saturday night just had drinks and left just before the live music. Returned for Sunday Roast - amazing!!! Beef was tender, roasted parsnips and carrots, cabbage, green beans, red cabbage along with a yorkshire pudding and roast potatos. On top of that we were made to feel really welcome and was remembered from the night before. This place was the opposite side of town from our accommodation and was well worth the walk. We will be back as...
