Table was booked for the restaurant in Shipquay Street, for 18:35 - we arrived at 18:25 and were seated. Waitress brought an old glass jar (supposed to be trendy) with complimentary water in it but no glasses!
It was another 15 min before someone came to take our drinks order and 5 mins after that when they took the food order. 19:30 there was still no sign of any food and I had to go to the counter to remind them that we were still there and that it was now an hour that we had been waiting, They said they would check with the kitchen and miraculously the food arrived at 19:35 with no apology for the hour long wait.
The waitress asked if anything else was needed so I asked for ketchup which never arrived and I had to ask for it a second time. (Still no glasses for the water!)
The people next to us said they also had a very long wait and had to go asking for their food.
The food itself was fine but it was basically just deep fried chicken tenders. The parmesean cheese fries had barely any parmesean on them.
The place was strangely quiet for a Saturday night which probably should have been a red flag. In comparison to Nandos over the street which looked packed out.
We eventually left at 20:15 - an hour and 45 minutes after sitting down. Avoid.
*This review is a repost because they replied to my last one by lying and saying the restaurant was booked out when it was not. There was plenty of empty tables.. Things like that don't go un-noticed when you have 1.5 hrs to look around whilst waiting on your food. They also blamed the customers beside us by claiming that those customers didn't warn them that they were attending a show and couldn't wait an hour and a half for their food and that is nothing short of laughable. Your customers don't have to share their intinary with you.
They also claimed smartly that they don't serve fast food, fast food isn't expected but neither is a wait of 1.5hrs and incidentally, for it not to be fast food, once I asked where it was it was produced five minutes later..
If you think it's acceptable to make people sit for almost two hours and have to go up and ask where two very basic meals are then you have got a serious problem with customer service and it would serve you well not to reply to honest reviews in future by telling lies to cover up that horrendous...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately I think it’s just another victim of “Influencer Food”. After seeing a few food bloggers rave about the place, we were excited to try it. We went on a Sunday, about 15 minutes after they opened at 1:15pm. When we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation, we didn’t so said we were just a walk in. Almost immediately we were told that the beef brisket and ribs weren’t available which was disappointing to hear as a first impression. The vibes of the place just were not there for us unfortunately. The place is very dark and some of the seats and walls are old and worn. It took about 10-15 minutes after being seated to have our drinks order taken and by then we knew what we wanted to eat so ordered that too. Our server was quite obviously new to the place so we were very patient and understanding of that. All the staff were lovely. It took well over an hour to get our food order out to us. We were seated right beside the kitchen, so we could also see other food coming out very slowly. When our food did arrive it was disappointing to say the least. The chicken tenders which I was so looking forward to were terrible. There was more breading than there was chicken, and the Nashville hot oil was extremely greasy. They were extremely over spiced and I was coughing and sneezing the whole time eating them. I also got the Mac and cheese, which again wasn’t nice at all. It was served in a bowl which made all the cheese sink to the bottom. The cheese was grainy too and just overall disappointing. We walked away, £35 down and the skin on fries were the only thing we left...
Read moreI was trying to get to the Dirty Souls spot for awhile but the stars never aligned but when I spotted COUPE I saw a chance to have a go. I love BBQ and while this isn’t the best I’ve ever had the food was great quality and filling for the cost.
Take note like most BBQ places the turnaround is slow, felt a little long this time also but was hungry so from seating to eating it the 3 meat tray took 40 minutes~ - I was desperately watching all other trays going out seated right beside the kitchen.
The wait was still worth it though all the meats and sides were amazing and the sauces compliment everything but the Korean chicken was missing the kimchi but only noticed after had finished otherwise would have mentioned it.
Staff were lovely and helpful.
The restaurant itself I think needs a little love and care, overhead lamps and such had a lot of visible dust - doesn’t impact the food as kitchen looked spotless from what we could see but just adds a little concern when the the seating areas look uncared for in places.
Expensive for a lunch so maybe having a lunch menu prior to 5pm would be a thing but also we went for the trays so maybe the sandwiches would be a better lunch option.
Overall would recommend this spot, 3 meat tray fed the two of us which comes with 2 sides - I preferred the Korean chicken tenders and then the brisket but wife preferred the pulled pork, sides of mac and cheese and maple fries (I’d probably try other fries but wanted to give these a go, but too sweet for me), just soft drinks but some of their other options alcohol and alcohol free looked delicious. Will revisit at the next...
