Picture this, three young college students, who have JUST begun their first year at Greenhead college, decide to go to a nice cafe to eat good food alongside escaping the rain. As we stood outside pondering where to sit, the manager of the cafe comes charging out of the fire escape door to greet us by bellowing 'you can't come in here if you are not buying anything'. After witnessing this once, she decided to repeat herself in a louder and highly aggressive tone, despite us obviously walking towards the counter to purchase a cake. This was clearly targeted due to our lanyards and more than that she targeted us when we hadn't said a word, sat down or even ENTERED the building! After we had made our purchases, she did not have the decency to apologise or justify her actions, and instead continued with an unpleasant tone she had previously condoned. Furthermore, no other customers were greeted with this anti social behaviour. To say this is appalling is an understatement and it is also prejudiced due to our age and the lanyards around our necks. We will most definitely not be returning to this unwelcoming and completely rude café. We believe that the staff need to be better trained customer service before working in this...

This old greenhouse was falling down at one point. They fixed it up and re purposed it to prevent it standing derelict like most of our council owned spaced. Judging by the current state of the rest of the town centre, this seems to be a one off, so we are lucky to have it.
However like the rest of kirklees it is terribly managed by the council. I was hoping to book the greenhouse cafe for a large event, but nobody answers, the switchboard are clueless to who deals with it and the one email i could find nobody responds too, is impossible to...
Read moreFollowing refurbishment, there are no longer jacket potatoes or soup available. A year ago I would have easily been able to choose a decent veggie option. Last time I visited with family, I reluctantly ate the white bread of a cheese sandwich without much of the cheese. Yes there was vegan cake available which was yummy but that was the extent of it. Difficult enough to find veggie options at times, plus accessible for me and kid friendly. In termdms of access, thankfully disabled toilet cubicle now a bit wider. I'm sorry to provide a less than favourable review, but was used to visiting every 8 weeks or so prior to...
