Gurkha Sizzler Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Kirklees

On June 8th 2023, I went to Gurka Sizzler to celebrate my sister and mothers birthday , I had already previously been to Gurka Sizzler and the food was amazing and I would say it was one of my favourite Indian restaurants but not after today.

I booked a table for 15 people at 7pm. When we all arrived the waitress had asked us for our order, however it took her awhile to understand what we wanted due to english not being her first language - this did not bother us at all but it did make us wait longer for our food, and get the young children frustrated as they was getting hungry.

Once we had finished our food, we had asked the waitress to bring out the birthday cakes so we could sing happy birthday, however this took 45 minutes. As we was waiting for the birthday cakes to come, everyone had been working out and double checking how much their order came to and what they needed to pay. I worked out that the price of my food was £91.49 . However, when I went to go and pay the food the restaurant had charged me £101.49. And kept on over charging everybody else’s meals, we was all calmly trying to explain what we had ordered and how much we should pay. This took over 20 minutes.

Eventually my family and I had given up and decided to be over charged for the food we had ordered. We had asked for the food we asked to be taken home and when we got given them, the waitress had said she does not know who’s food is which, but at this point it was 10pm and everybody was already frustrated with the service they had received and wanted to go home.

Overall, this will be my last time coming to Gurkha Sizzler as they cannot handle having big parties at their restaurant, and if you as a business cannot do that, then what is the point in having a restaurant business? The food was great, but not worth...

I recently dined here with a group of my golfing friends to celebrate our ‘end of tour’. As this year’s winner I got to choose where we went for our meal and I chose here. This was based on a meal my wife and I had had a week or so earlier where we really enjoyed the food. I was a little nervous as it’s not the biggest of restaurants and there were 13 of us. However I needn’t have worried as everything went smoothly from being warmly greeted when we arrived to paying the, very reasonable, bill at the end. The restaurant is clean and bright, the service good and courteous and the food lovely. Portion size is about right and the food served piping hot on pre-heated plates. Everyone afterwards said how much they’d enjoyed what they had. I’ll definitely return to try some of the other dishes on the menu and wouldn’t be surprised if next years ‘end of tour’ celebration...

My wife and I ordered some food to be delivered tonight (11/9/21) from this takeaway at 6:30 pm and were told it would be with us between 7:30 and 7:55pm but the food never arrived so we called to see where it was and we were told there wasn’t a driver available and they would re make the food and send a driver within 30 minutes However after this deadline passed we called AGAIN only to be told there were still no drivers available WAITING FOR 2 AND A HALF HOURS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE We have never eaten in this place and after tonight’s DEBACLE there is NO CHANCE WE EVER WILL You have lost our custom and I will be telling everyone I know not to bother ordering any food from here
