We went for the pub quiz tonight. We were aware it was an online quiz. My friend is deaf and lip reads. There is a round in the quiz where you click to answer. The first round we clicked to have a laugh - thinking other people may have also had a sense of bloody humour. Then we did so in the same round - baring in line my friend is deaf and lip reads so I was telling her the question. We were cut off and told we were taking the mick so we were skipped and had to rush an answer even though my friend was processing an answer in her native language (BSL) as she has to translate from English to BSL when spoken to. Then when it came to the break, the member of staff (Harvey) running the quiz came over to our table , accused us of ruining the quiz for everyone else and when I tried to explain that I was rushed when trying to explain the question to my DEAF friend, I was told “okay? And.” I once again tried to explain the situation and was told “why are you carrying this on?” I was obviously shocked and a bit disappointed so I ended the conversation and we as a group of paying customers; decided to leave. The Barman charged £5.00 - I queried this and I got the reply 'That's what the till says and I do what the till tells me' That is a rather blunt reply. I think he needs to work on his customer services skills.
I know it's only 5p, but it all adds up. It's an expensive beer as it is and that's just adding insult to injury. Does it cost more to clean that extra glass? I doubt it... I'll buy a pint next time and save that 10p. Beginning to wonder if putting 'craft' on the name is just an excuse to charge more. It was a good beer, but the attitude of the barman annoyed me and that rather pointless 5p extra.
I don't often...
