Baanrai Thai Cafe and restaurant — Restaurant in Leeds

We ordered a takeaway last night at 7.40pm. We ordered;

Mixture of starters Chilli and ginger beef stir fry Duck with noodles and tamarind sauce.

I went to go pick up the order after an hour; when I got there the restaurant was busy so I waited an additional 20-25 mins for my order. Which I didn't mind however when I got home I pulled out the 'duck' for my boyfriend and it was in fact a king prawn wilted salad. We rang the restaurant back to say they'd messed the order up and they asked us to go back down in 20 mins to pick up what we had ordered. My stir fry looked and tasted very plain-the beef was not seasoned and the vegetables were just carrots chopped up and a few cauliflower heads, not what you'd expect for a Thai vegetable based stir-fry. The starters were fine but again lacked flavour and freshness. The whole experience was a let down and I ended up leaving my beef and putting something in the oven as I just really could not enjoy it.

Best red Thai curry ever. What a find this restaurant was, I love Thai food and the food here definitely one of best Thai meals I have had. It's a small place, with friendly staff. It was a Tuesday afternoon when I went so was quite. I had salt and chilli chicken, the batter was really light and was great balance of flavour. I then had Red Thai curry which was with out a doubt the best one I have eaten, ( I have eaten and cooked plenty of Thai food) the curry was great consistency and the flavour was so fresh, I don't know how they do it but the bamboo shoots in curry was cooked so they were so delicate and soft, The only problem with is I live so far away from the place and can't go as often as I would like to. Myself and a group of friends came for dinner for our friends birthday. The food was absolutely outstanding, so fresh, authentic snd full of flavour , everyone round the table loved their meals. The service was so friendly, warm and welcoming, and could do not enough for us. As it was my friends birthday, I had arrived early and asked if they would mind popping some candles In a small pudding, they were more than happy to do this and when it came to it they brought out 2 large pieces of cake singing happy birthday so everyone round the table could have a bit too , not just the birthday girl!
