We had booked a table online for 4 people at Banyan for 8:15, and specified it would be for food. When we arrived the staff looked confused and did not seem aware of our booking. Once we were seated upstairs we were immediately told we would have to order our meals as the kitchen was about to close, we were not informed of this prior to our arrival.
As soon as we finished our meals and were about to order another drink ( in which we expected we were able to due to the table being booked until 10:15 and it was currently 9:15) we were told we must get the bill as they were closing the upstairs section.
We were given the bill and then waited a further 20 minutes before we were able to get a member of staff to let us pay, at this point our plates were still on the table and everyone else in the upstairs section has left. Between this time we were made feel very uncomfortable by the staff who were giving us unwelcoming looks and laughing between each other.
Once a member of staff came to let us pay we all decided to pay our set amounts plus a portion of the service charge ( we did not intend to pay the service charge in full as this was an awkward number and to make it easier it on ourselves and the staff we used a whole number which included a portion of the service charge). The member of staff serving us was extremely patronising telling us we had done the maths wrong and that we had to pay the full service charge or none of it. We then all ended paying extra, which exceeded the service charge although the evidently poor service.
Once we had all paid and left we were then chased down the street harassed and shouted at, that we had not payed our bill. This caused people on the street to further Harass us even though we had paid! We explained the situation and when they realised they had got it wrong they seemed visibly agitated and stormed off, we were left uncomfortable in the street harassed by members of the public without any sort of apology!
The next day, still appalled over the entire experience we decided to ring and speak to a member of staff, the member of staff was present during the event and was apologetic while still contradicting our recall of the event. The member of staff insisted she would pass on our information to the manager and that they would contact us, almost a week later we have not heard anything.

We ordered drinks and before we got to drink them the waiter told us it was a 30 minute wait on food ( the place was empty). I queried this he went away and came back and told me it was an hour wait as there was a wedding upstairs and they were prioritising their orders. I pointed out that we were not informed of this at the time of booking nor when we had been shown to our seats. He got the manager who arrived and apologised agreeing ot was bad management on their part and offer two bottles of prosecco and would speak to the kitchen. At this time my 9yr old autistic boy was becoming visibly upset as he couldn't understand why they couldn't cook his dinner. The manager came back and confirmed it would need an hour wait as they were prioritising the wedding regardless of us booking in advance. My daughters graduation meal was RUINED!!!! my son had a meltdown in the restaurant whilst the staff stood there and stared at him sobbing. My daughter was crying as this was her special day and she was pushed aside for someone else's day. How that restaurant can live with what they did today, you knew you had a wedding and you knew when we made our booking that there would be a delay and you said nothing. You didn't even tell us when we arrived there would be a delay you let us sit down get comfortable order drinks and then tell us. Shocking disgusting behaviour and the management is a joke! If you want a nice meal and drinks go elsewhere this place is not up to scratch!

We booked a table for 8, last min canx for 1 of the girls so we understood deposit would be non refundable which is fair enough. The restaurant were informed.
We’d pre paid for ALL the food we ordered & was only expecting to pay for one round of drinks that we’d got upstairs, which took over an hour btw.
When the bill arrived the remaining balance to pay was £121 when we were expecting it to be no more than about £35 !!
Staff came back confirming 3-4 x insisting it’s correct & then we asked for a manager, eventually a 3rd member of staff, said to be management, looked into & still insisted it’s the right amount, circled my meal saying I had a balance to pay also when I’d already paid in full on advance & that we had to pay for our friend who was unable to make it, but they never bought her food out & the table was set for 7!!! Cheeky !
After debating for nearly 30-40 mins, while our lifts were circling city square, did they finally agree we were correct the whole time!
They slapped on a £27 service charge (service was slow, given it was England V France we didn’t mind as it happens) then another almost £30 for 7 starter plates, that are included in the 2-3 festive courses !!!
Then proceeded to ask us to stay for drinks on the house ! Please double triple check your bills, won’t be going back, almost ruined our get together, very embarrassing for such a ‘high...
