This sub terrainian eatery has been here for many years, it must be doing something right.

We opted for the early-bird menu, three courses including a half bottle of house wine each for £30.

Our starters were lovely, fish soup, mackerel & salmon pate and fish cake - all good.

Mains were pigeon, confit duck leg and lambs liver. All served with good quality vegetables and sauces, there was just one disappointment - the lambs liver was over cooked. Had there been a mid-course quality check I might have mentioned this, but with a lady guest in tow there’s no way I was sending it back anyway - a last resort only used for inedible disasters!

Puddings were lovely, a noteworthy mention for the Husband’s croissant bread and butter pudding!

The house wines were very pleasant if not sophisticated, but I’m not complaining as they are included in the good-value menu.

Service was mostly good, perhaps a little over-familiarity from one chap but otherwise efficient. The low-ceilinged cellar gets very noisy when busy, but it’s great to see a successful restaurant being...

Had a fabulous evening with friends at Sous Le Nez on the early bird menu. The welcome was warm and friendly and I felt like a regular customer which endeared me to the team. The décor is lovely, it is like a fabulous French bistro and has bags of ambiance. The three of us had 3 different starters and were equally impressed with our choices in taste, quality and presentation.

I would have preferred to have some crusty French bread rather than a small dinner roll, it would just seem more fitting in my opinion.

The main courses were delicious and generous. I chose the rib-eye steak which was gorgeous, the steak had lots of flavour and was cooked to the perfect medium. The vegetables served were a lovely mix and again cooked to perfection. My friends had the Dorade with Purple Gnocchi! We could not help but have dessert, we ordered Creme Brulee and Sticky Toffee Pudding, if I have had the room I would have ordered a second Creme Brulee.

Overall I am really looking forward to my next visit as the food and service...

We often go to Sous Le Nez for their early bird menu which is absolutely cracking value at £29.99 which includes half a bottle of their very good wine. The atmosphere is lovely and the food devine, we have never had a bad meal their. Everything is done to the highest possible standard. Go on, book in there and treat your taste buds.

Update 14 April 2022. The price of the menu du soir has increased slightly to £34 during the week but this still represents fabulous value. The good is always consistently wonderful, portion sizes are spot on. Still our favourite restaurant and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Update 14/11/2023 This has got to be the best place in Leeds to eat. The service and the food are all simply the best. You really have to try this restaurant,...

Went for Christmas lunch works do. I think the food is still amazing and the waiting staff are really good. Its not the same value as long ago when the early bird was £14 but times move on. Starter for me was duck and goose terrine. Confit duck and goose including a few chunks in a terrine. Lovely gamey taste. Belly pork. Again confit with a small black pudding bubble and squeak. Gravy was really really tasty. Small portion but all very good. Mango parfait. They do puddings really well. Creamy mango parfait with a black forest combo of cherry and dark chocolate biscuit. Still can't fault it. Just not quite as good value as it used to be. But that just probably me forgetting inflation.

Trying not to be biased because I love french food. It was delicious. Starters were Pigeon for the missus, Pig cheeks for me. No complaints. Very French, from the size, playing and taste. I even got the pork do for main. The belly pork was perfect. The pork fillet is not as good but still awesome. Wifey got the venison. She's sucker for beetroot or haggis. She loves it too. We mostly don't get desserts because they tend to ruin the vibe but we took our chance. I got the white chocolate mousse. It was good. Not too sweet. Gin tart with tonic sorbet. Pastry had gone soft unfortunately, and it wasn't very ginny in flavour but overall she still enjoyed it. We will be back for sure.
