Absolutely blown away by our service and our food. The staff at the door were wonderful and inviting, and were quick to show us to our table. Throughout our stay we were served by Aaron who was more than sublime - he didn't bat an eye at any question or request we had and was more than expedient when getting anything extra we had asked for. For example; on the website, they show a set menu. This wasn't given to us at the table, just the regular menu, so I asked if it was still available, he quickly returned with two such menus within moments. He was quick to ask for any dietary requirements/allergies and was by far the best waiter I've ever had the pleasure of meeting at a restaurant. Food wise, everything was sublime! I had ordered the lemon calamari for my starter and it was tremendous, I wish i could bring the garlic aioli home!!!! My partner ordered the goan chicken skewer, which she said tasted very good, but a word of warning to those with a sensitivity to spicy food - the pico de gallo was surprisingly hot, not just to her but to my tollerance too [Aaron again was fantastic when she had asked for a quick glass of milk to cool her mouth]. We both ordered the Ribeye mid-rare, and while it was slightly overcooked from my preference, it was still incredibly tender and flavorsome. Both of the desserts we ordered were delicious and beautiful, and were gone before either of us could comment about them to each other [the portions were ample, we just couldn't pull ourselves away to talk!!!]. The drinks menu was incredibly well stocked, and varied, and I can highly recommend the Cucumber Mojito [which i had] and the Cuban Passion [which my partner had two of!! i don't blame her a bit].Well well well worth the money and the booking, I just wish I could've tipped Aaron separately as he was that sublime a...

Having just returned home from my surprise dinner to celebrate my birthday. My son had gone to the trouble of booking the table and was happy to take the offer of 50% discount. All I can say is thank god he did not pay the full amount. Having worked for 35 years in the catering industry, and for the last 15 years as executive chef on one of the biggest cruise ships in the world, I can say with hand on my heart, I have never come across such poor service and total disregard for customer satisfaction. Firstly the waiter with very dirty apron, tardily dressed, very poorly groomed, with, by any standards, a grossly overgrown beard, he looked like he had just worked a 24 hour shift . To be given a full menu and then to be told that the majority of that menu was not available on the 50% package is disappointing, but to be told that 6 of the remaining dishes that were been offered were also not available as they had been busy. And after he take the order that was the last we see of him, I had to find a waiter to ask for more drinks, After he took the order we waited, after we finish our main course, the new waiter said he forgot to order the drinks with the bar. As for the food, was just about OK. Steak ordered was slightly under cooked and was not seasoned, As I said I'm only glad that we only paid 50% of the total, and that was still very expensive, for a meal with such low standards of service. If this is the standard that Blackhouse is happy with good luck, By next year it will be up for sale. 1 star for the food...

Firstly, the service we received was poor. Our waiter was noticeably rude throughout the evening which created an uncomfortable atmosphere for our party. We took clients in for the evening and it was evident that basic courtesy and professionalism were lacking – referring to the table as ‘mate’ when taking orders and bringing food/drinks, to be honest, it was just very clear he didn’t want to be there.

Additionally, we ordered just mains, which took over 30 mins to come out with no explanation offered. At one point we were told they were being plated up – then waited a further ten minutes for any food to arrive. This only further detracted what should have and usually is an enjoyable dining experience.

The most concerning however, were the condition of the female toilets. It was immediately evident that there was some kind of sewerage problem as soon as entering the toilet doors as we were hit with an overpowering smell that made the facilities unbareable to use and actually resulted in one of our guests vomiting. Every cubicle had flies buzzing around the toilet which is deeply unhygienic and extremely unacceptable within any hospitality setting. I did actually report this to a member of staff who advised that he would ‘check it out’ but I believe absolutely nothing was done and I don’t believe for a moment that this hadn’t already been reported by other guests during the day. In my opinion these toilets should have been closed and put out of use until issues...

Came here with my partner for a nice evening out, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated with an amazing ambience. We were served by a lovely young lady called Kitty, whose service was exemplary and always had a smile. We started with the Camembert to share, and it was truly delectable and perfect to start off the evening. We proceeded with steaks for our mains, a rump steak with mac and cheese for my partner and sirloin steak with the skinny fries for myself. Well! They were resplendent and cooked to perfection. It wasn't long before the plates were cleared. My only concern was the piano player who was very talented. He just happened to sing too loud. As my partner is deaf in one ear, Kitty our server had to communicate with me alone, and I then relayed the information to his good ear. While she was extremely apologetic for the singing and continued to apologise every time she came to the table as she felt my partner was being left out due to only communicating with me she couldn't have been more diligent in her duties. Shout out to a truly lovely lady. This place is definitely worth a visit but can be on the pricier side of things. All in all, a lovely place to spend an evening but the piano doesn't need singing with it. The music alone is enough to set the tone.

I really wanted to like it here, and I really wanted it to be a cut above the Miller and Carter we went to a few days before. Even more so because we took relatives who were visiting from abroad. Unfortunately however, once we got past the lovely ladies on the door, everything took a bit of a nose dive. The atmosphere was a little subdued, but then it was a Wednesday evening so we'll let that slide. The waiting staff, though they were going the motions, didn't really appear to want to be there. I don't know if they had just had a dressing down or a bad meeting but something was clearly off. The food came out in a timely manner, but other than the nice pork, was very average. The steaks were gristly and a bit tough, also all three steaks were under done and lacking a little in flavour. (Sad looking food pictured) To add insult to the average food and the sullen staff, was the above average price followed by an even further above average (undeserved) service charge. Overall, if you want better steak, more attentive staff with probably over 20% off and, in some cases parking... Go to a Miller and Carter. Would have been 3 stars if the service charge wasn't rather rudely put on the bill automatically.

Food was lovely, I'm not usually a fan of red wine used in gravy or beef etc,, but that's mainly because most places use cheap wine or put far too much in, where as was truly perfect with only a slight presence instead of over bearing wine taste. Yorkshire pudding was huge but little dried out on edges like been sat under a heat lamp but wasn't bad I'm just picky. Luckily I added a steak otherwise you'd still be hungry if got a roast dinner without adding anything which I'd say biggest issue is, aswell as not having mash potato to add as a side. Other hand the steak i added was beautiful and perfectly cooked. I'd definitely return for steak but I think can get better Sunday dinners elsewhere. Miller n carters platter for 2 is £70 and hard to beat with lamb, sirloin steak and roast chicken aswell as mash and everything included, although their veg isn't great Otherwise I'd say was perfect. If added mash potato's I'd probably be happy to return to get a steak Sunday dinner but it's just a little small otherwise. I only eat twice a day so maybe I'm used to larger meals and wouldn't advice anyone not to give it a try as the food was really good but just giving my reasoning for 4 stars on food.
