Chaai — Restaurant in Leeds

Cheated! I felt cheated as I paid for a large cup of English tea only to be served a 3/4 filled small teapot. And this was after I'd been given a wrong order of karak tea. As we were the only customer in on valentines night, I expected a bit better service and more foresight! Cheated again; the croffle was definitely NOT a croffle. Shown in the fancy menu colour book, as 2 pieces of a 'cross between a donut and a croissant'. ( I've had one before in Bradford and it's been decadent) This was merely a single not so fresh croissant been moulded onto a waffle machine; for which they charged almost £6.00!!! My husband had the chocolate orange waffle. In the menu, it clearly says it comes with ice cream. But we were asked if we wanted ice cream?! It came after 5 minutes in a miniscule bowl. I wish I'd taken pictures! When I peered into the shop, as we walked by; the seating and beautiful lighting beckoned us in. Also I noticed the shop empty on Valentines night, so my husband and i decided to give them some business. I wanted to support the shop. I had high expectations, initially bedazzled by the beautiful menu, and decor, thinking in my head ''I'll try the savoury menu some day soon''. Alas ...maybe I'll spend my money elsewhere! The service was slow and definitely was...

Had a really bad experience here during Ramadan. My group called on the phone and placed our order on the phone. We were told that the maximum wait time would be 30 mins which would have given us 30 minutes left to then eat our Suhoor . We had asked prior to ordering if the food would for sure be given within 30 mins and were reassured that we would have time to have our suhoor. Instead of 30 mins it ended up taking around 50 mins which seems unacceptable considering that we only had ten mins left to eat our food. On top of that everyone else that was in the place as well were not receiving their orders so others were not getting their suhoor on time either. It just seems very disrespectful to tell your customers one thing and provide another especially when they asked about it to make sure prior. Furthermore, 2 of us had ordered the same things and we were provided with different items as a result. Hope they choose to improve their services and this doesn’t happen often...

Was passing by just to find a morning breakfast, looked on Internet found mr Ts next door but not open till 11am so popped in at chaai not sure if it is halal but having vegetarian should be OK in-sha-allah had desi breakfast 2 poratha a omelette and massala beans and pickle just under a tenner, poratha ok, omelette skinny as ell, massala could have been tastier portion was small not much flavour think they've forgotten the main ingredients zeera but then everybody makes it differently am a cook myself (master of Turkish kurdish Indian food) and not to forgotten English easy peasy too. Pickle is out of order for morning breakfast it's a no,no! Service was quik fast, atmosphere ok, having wc was good. But I had chills in there too cold colder than outside that really put me off, felt like thier back door was open and all in dining area 🥶☹️ bare in mind I was just passing by in Leeds for 3 hours. A little more cosier and warmer would be great the rest will speak...
